Old Style Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th July 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning everyone , the sun is shining, and the sky is blue what more could we want at the moment.Today I am hoping for a slightly more relaxing day.The school run first then home to finish off my ironing AND put it away (I hate that job)Then I am going to be in my conservatory where I have my 'painting table' set up I have a frame that I have to uncdercoat and top coat for my DD also a small chair that I am renovating for my DGD.I have a work table in there covered in newspaper and all my painting tools and paints and I shall be quite happily sitting in there sanding and under/top coating until I have to pick up the boys from school.Very relaxing hobby, and I love to see things being transformed from tatty old bits of stuff into something with a new lease of life. No shopping to buy so I will be in there with my wireless on and my old painting gear on . Hope you all have a good day Cheers JackieO xx

Morning JackieO and those who follow

We've got blue skies and sunshine, meant to stay dry today too.

Got some new fence panels arriving after lunch, have persuaded a friends son to help me get them in place, should be a fairly swift job as all the concrete posts and base boards are in place, old panels are falling to bits and new ones should hopefully just slide in.....but it's never that easy is it?!

Lovely tax return cheque arrived yesterday so will need to get that banked a.s.a.p, we knew it was coming (but it's more than we thought) so most of its already earmarked for stuff.

The house needs a good tidy and air through, WM is on and I've got two loads on airers that I need to sort, half of its dry, the other half will benefit from an hour on the line to finish off.

Need to have a good look through the fridge today too and utilise the last bits and bobs of things, I might actually get some pastry made and do some individual pies, a great way of using up the last spoonfuls of stuff.

Farmers market in the village today so will pop along for some veg and maybe a cheeky bacon sarnie in the sunshine.

Morning JackieO and Pooky sounds like you two are going to have idyllic days, think of me sorting out all the end of term things at school:eek: Congratulations to adelight you have worked very hard and thoroughly deserve that result and the prize.
Hugs to all in need and hope you all have sunshine today, we went to the forest yesterday despite the rain, the kids loved it and came back filthy and tired. Have a good day all. Must sort Mount Washmore tonight as all clothes seem to be in the sorting/ironing pile.:(

    Morning everyone :)
It's dry here ATM.........not sure why I start nearly every single post of mind about the weather :rotfl: not as if the weather has changed much since April :rotfl:
Plans today are more housework, daily vac to do. Got another birthday cake to make and decorate at the end of this week so I need to get the house up to scratch or I'll be trying to shoe horn it into the weekend.....which isn't a good idea with H AND the kids at home.
Some local allotments are having an open day on Saturday and a couple of the plots might be becoming available. Not getting my hope us but would be lovely to have a bigger veggie plot. Crossing my fingers in hope ;)

Not sure what's for tea tonight :o not feeling the inspiration for cooking at the moment

Hugs and spoons all round xxxx

    Morning everyone

Congratulations to all who are now getting exam/degree results - well done x

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Beautiful morning here, blue sky and bright sunshine, should dry everywhere up as it's still very wet underfoot. DH up and off to work at stupid early. Have just put washing out on the line.

Yesterday was a manic Monday, we are already down to skeleton staff, and then also had someone on holiday, and then 2 people go sick, really makes the job difficult, was horrendously busy until after I went for lunch, people waiting an hour+ to be seen etc. We do seem to manage ok until we have people off on hols or sick, both of which are inevitable parts of life, Managers who authorise these change in hours/working practices just don't seem to live in the real world. Came home with an awful bad head because it was just relentless and customers get stroppy if they have to wait to long, (and personally I don't blame them). Managed to get some meds then just pottered about getting dinner ready, we had LO cold pork, hot new potatoes, and salad bits, coleslaw etc - was really lovely and didn't take too much prep. Hoping today will be a little less busy but there were a lot of people that visited saw how busy we were and said they would return today .......! So we'll see how today goes, I'm on Reception.

Dinner tonight will be fish, chips, beans for the menfolk, I'll be having omelette and salad. Must remember tonight to get meat out to defrost for tomorrow's stew.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning everyone,

Congratulations Adelight, you have done brilliantly:T
Miffy I am crawling to the end of term, it can't come quick enough for me.

    Hester how are you?

The sun was out here briefly this morning but it is hiding now, hope it makes a reappearance later. Washing is out on the line, it may even get dry.

Coming back to school this evening for an achievement ceremony, they always make me smile.

Don't know what is for tea tonight, I am trying to use up what is left in the fridge before holiday.

Have a lovely day everyone. :)

It started out looking like it was going to be a fab day for washing, but lo and behold a dirty great rain cloud has just appeared overhead biggrinumbrella-smiley-face.gif?1302011312

bargainbird DH has requested spag bol today as well.

I am waiting for DH to get home and then we are off to Hobby Craft, I need to start getting some craft bits ready for you know when. I hate the crowds near the time and like to have everything done and dusted shop wise by the end of September.

DH has to work through the summer holiday's because it is the main clean where the site agents strip and polish floors, do any decorating and repairs that are needed and sort the outside areas as well. He will take DS in with him to help especially when DH has to use a ladder. He will have his 2 week holiday in the middle of August.
DD has a little 4 hour a week job ( All she could get that wouldn't interfere too much with her college work) hopefully she might get some overtime, trouble is that there are rumours that they might be closing :(
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
