Well I have finally reached the age where my kids say to me " its all down hill now dad".
I will be 50 at the end of July 2012.
OK, I have to accept it :-( so what benefits are there for people aged 50 & over, things like SAGA and others?.
Any help or advice to soften the blow would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

It's great! Mortgage paid or nearly, kids left uni. Still plenty of energy and time and cash left at end of month!
Enjoy!Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Also no need to care what people think, by now you should be comfortable in your own skin as they say [horrible expression, but it does convey the thought]
So go on, start getting your own back for the kid's tantrums in the supermarket by embarrassing them, dancing is good for this, as is asking who is XYZ on the TVEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Brilliant, I read these two replies to my wife, we love them, really made us chuckle :-)0

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Oh what a good thread! I will turn 50 in January and I'm panicking about it! In my head I am still 30. I really need the blow softened for me too!LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

I'm 66 and keep on noticing this strange wrinkly balding bloke in the mirror; he seems to be following me around.0

I catch sight of a little old lady in shop windows, too.
Still, OH tells me I haven't got any wrinkles!Love must really be blind!

Its great .. wear what the heck you like, eat what the heck you like, nod wisely at the failings of the 'yoof' today'
basically you can say all the things your parents said to you when you were younger and actually believe some of them ..
Its a wonderful age to be , enjoy

I absolutely love being fifty.
I feel very happy right now and am apparently getting younger looking for some reason!
Just enjoy it!Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

What have I really got to look forward to then?LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012
