Now that is a VERY interesting point.
If Win XP can be accessed from inside win7 pro in virtual mode, and you have to keep updating it......then surely MS will have to keep on supplying security updates for XP after their currently stated cut off date of 2014.....................?

There's nothing special about XP Mode; support for Windows XP regardless of source will still end in 2014.
PS you also need a PC capable of hardware visualisation to enable you to run XP virtual mode within Win 7 pro.

That requirement was removed over 2 years ago.

    All AMD CPUs are capable.

The other thing that bugs me is the dumbing down of the search function but I installed 3rd party software to get that working satisfactorily again.

    Which was...?
(I'm collecting notes together about this and that for when I change over.)

I think that needs some qualification - obviously not all AMD CPUs have hardware virtualization support.

So which don't? I of course am speaking of current models.
Any AMD purchased now will include AMD-V.
