Can You Still Get Windows XP?

There is this:

from Play.com it only has SP2, but you can still download SP3 from Microsoft.
I would not worry about their fixation with XP: Windows 7 has only just overtaken it in users. My son and 2 teens are all on XP, networked and wireless. There are millions still using it and doing OK with it, including businesses, some quite large.
There is also this, from saverstore.com:

- which does have SP3 included.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

I can sort of understand where your parents are coming from...W7 IMHO needlessly started using the Libraries method of organising documents which was, again IMHO, completely unneccessary....And it does take a bit of getting used to...so I basically don't bother, and just use the Documents folder as I do with My Documents in XP......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Why bother with an old version of Windows, why not use Ubuntu Linux instead it's free to download, and will be more secure and just as easy to use these days. You can download a "live CD" so you can try it on your kit with out actually installing it to see if you can grow to love it - go on you know you want to.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0

Oh thanks for that Zorin lite might solve a problem I have with a really really old laptop, providing I can lay my hands on a stick of ancient SDR Sodimm memory in time.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Windows 7 on a machine without pokey enough graphics is a bit noddy, but otherwise I think it is better in general than XP. The only gotcha is support for "legacy" kit (printers & scanners mostly).
An easy winner is the ability to pin your most used programs to the taskbar, which removes the need to go through the start menu to run them.0 -
bear in mind, if the laptop came with Win 7, there may not be fully compatible drivers for Windows XP.
For example, custom buttons and apps on the laptop for power saving and shortcuts etc may not work if you go back to XP.
I would recommend they persevere - easier in the long run0 -
If they struggle with Windows 7, I seriously doubt they'll know where to start with ubuntu, or any other linux variant.
It came with W7, that's the best OS for the machine, there really isn't much difference in the interface compared to XP. Copying files and browsing the net is much the same as it has been since windows 95. There are many alternate file managers that replicate winfile if the op really wants to go back to windows 3.11 file manager.!!

And when you stick a memory stick in the USB port, Windows 7 asks you if you want to transfer files just the same as Win XP did.
I think its more bloody mindedness than there actually being an issue.0 -
+1 for zorin lite it is very similar to windows xp, I use it most of the time now.0
