Old Style Daily Thread for Monday16th July 2012 Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy overcast and looks like rain any minute! DH up and off to work at stupid early.

Had a reasonably productive day yesterday, managed to get a couple of jobs done that we'd planned and then didn't manage to do on Saturday. Lunch was lovely roast pork, was quite a large piece so several slices left, will be finishing that tonight for dinner with hot new potatoes, salad etc. I'm going to a Fashion Show tonight - not really bothered whether I go or not but friend is organising it so feel a bit obliged but really don't need any new clothes so it's not likely I'll buy anything. Mum has just phoned and said they have managed to get a booking at a spa hotel that we've been trying to persuade them to go to for a few days so she needs the bag back that the boys borrowed, will drop that off on my way to work this morning - need to get a shift on then!

Both boys only have 3 full days at school this week, DS2 is going to France on a school trip for the day on Thursday and DS1 should be at college but college has already finished so school don't have teachers/curriculum time spare for them so they don't have to attend - and then on Friday schools finishes at 1.30pm.

The outlaws came over yesterday to have a look at a new piece of furniture we have, they liked it too, am really pleased with it - fits in just nice.

Back to work this morning, will be a manic Monday as usual.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

Morning NMLC and all who follow

Damp start here, supposed to have light rain all day.

Had a lovely weekend, parentals came yesterday for lunch, Mum brought loads of plants for my garden and Dad brought tools and man stuff and got on the garage roof to reseal the flashing and seal some other bits that were beginning to go. Bless him, he loves having something to do and since we moved here last year he's always turning up with something in mind to fix/repair/sort out for us. Whilst they both love being retired and have a million and one hobbies and hardly a spare hour in the day, they both love to feel useful.

DH is off to the GP first thing, would like to go and do something nice after that if he's feeling up to it, he's feeling very down with lots of family illness on his side.

All 6 cats have been tearing around like loons so I will need to wash floors at some point but I'll wait until they've all settled down a bit. House is clean and tidy, just need to pop the washing on the airer and might get our bed stripped , it will dry over the banisters if the rain continues.

Chicken, bacon and cheesy pasta bake for tea and I need to mince down the rest of yesterday's pork for a Pie filling, will top it with the left over veg and a bit of mash for a bubble, squeak and oink pie.

Hope you all have a great day

bitsy i hope so too :o

Morning all. I'm glad I managed to get so much walking, foraging and general exploring done this weekend as it's gone grey again today. I found an abundant source of spinach like greens two minutes from my flat which I'm very pleased about. Makes me feel a little bit better about not being able to grow anything. I think I'll have to punch the next person who says "just get an allotment" as if it's that flipping easy :rotfl:
I need to give the place a general quick clean, DW, WM, make this weeks lunches, organise the fridge, bottle more elderflower champagne and pack my bag to visit family. The kitchen tap is dripping really badly, I was going to change the washer myself to save calling LL but it's a cartridge so will have to call them after all.
    Have a good day OSers!

    Morning all,

Was sunny for all of 5 mins this morning, so I put a load of towels on the line, its now started pouring again , so they will be draped about the place again.

Yesterday was quiet a nice day in the end, we managed to get the big hedge at the back cut, makes a huge difference to the garden, I then spent the rest of the afternoon tidying a few thing up out there, was nice to get some air.

Busy day today, need to drop dd at work, then back to clean through, I have a couple of hours of paid office work to do, was going to spend the afternoon in the garden again, but will have to see what the weather does.

Roast pork and all the trimmings today, looking forward to that.

Adelight good luck for your results xxx

Bramble, so sorry to hear about you and ex xxxx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Adelight good luck with your results.

Pooky hope DS feels better soon.

    Molly I loved the transport!

Overcast here but not raining yet, I haven't risked putting the washing out as the forecast is terrible.
Heard a forecast this morning on the radio that said that it is going to get much better next week, I hope so as we are off to Wales.

We went to a barbecue yesterday and the sun shone, it was lovely to be able to sit in the garden and enjoy the weather.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning :hello:

Thanks everyone - and I remembered to breathe :D We met up with friends, [STRIKE]drank too much,[/STRIKE] went through everything and they reminded us to look after ourselves. That's obvious, but somehow we'd forgotten. Felt a bit silly about that :D

So this week is for me (mr tru too, but he's not here during the day). I have one phone call to make then that's it. I have a 1000 piece jigsaw and some choc waiting for me.

I suppose I should still do some housework :D I put some washing out two days ago, it's still damp. It's under a shelter so I thought it'd be dry by now. There's four loads, I think it'll be cheaper to put the heating on to dry it all rather than use the dryer.

I want to weed the garden this week - I'm always doing a bit of weeding by hand but I'd like to give it a good going over with the hoe. A couple of hours of sunshine (or even just no rain) this week isn't too much to ask for, is it? :D

    Morning All
Wet again here too :( But I did manage to get all the washing dry on the line yesterday. The weather forecast is for rain until Friday :(
I want to give the kitchen a good tidy today and rearrange it, because it seems to be accumulating clutter again  Then I need to make some tortillas, pizza bases and bread.
I also want to try and do some ironing, but that depends on how sore I am after I have done the kitchen. I know they say do little and often, but Monday used to be my blitz day and it is so frustrating to not be able to do it any more.

Adelight I hope that you get your results today

Toad in the hole for dinner today and DH wants some L/O gammon with salad in a tortilla when they are made , so I had better get my toosh in gear. Bread first then tidy methinks.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
