    Hi
if you want to fly as a courier you shall contact the courier companies (like DHL UPS etc.) . My brother did it for some time when he was younger, but beware it can be very tiring. Sometimes you have to fly to a place with an envelope and back the same or next day.
  • If you search for the term courier flight in BA.COM there is a telephone number listed which you can call for more details. When I did the courier flights I didn't do it direct with BA but with another company (can't remember what it's called). It wasn't for DHL or anyone like that. The company I dealt with allowed you 7-10 day stays, depending on where you were going so you didn't have to return the next day. I didn't find it tiring as it was exactly the same as if I was a normal traveller, only carrying an envelope. I didn't even have anything to carry on the way back so couldn't be easier. You will find though that you can't do it so far in advance, so better booking nearer the time but start doing your homework now so you know who to contact. If I find any more details I will let you know.

I actually work as a Logistics manager so deal with a couple of international couriers,I think i'd better start being nice to them and see if I can blag a bargain.
  • On the BA World Cargo site there is a number listed for BA Travel Shops which you can call for a list of flights available apparently - 0870 606 1133
  • This is the company I used - Bridges Worldwide tel no 01895 465065. Another one is Air Cargo Partners Travel tel no 0208 897 5130. Check out the site https://www.beatthemonkey.com which will give you more details (email etc). Hope this helps

Have been planning a trip to New York with the lads for the last few months only for everyone to bail on me so I've decided to go on my own. I've booked a private double room in a Hostel for £59 for 4 nights (Reviews arent too bad, can't believe how cheap it was) and have found flights through Continental for £283 which i'm chuffed with, not booked the flights yet waiting to see if I can find anything cheaper. Anyone know if any of the airlines are planning a sale in the near future

Anyway has anyone ever traveled on their own? How did it go? I'm a bit nervous but at the same time can't blooming wait

    Hello!

I just booked a flight to Toronto on my own - staying in a hostel.

I travelled to Paris and Barcelona last year just for a week on my own and had a brilliant time.

It can get stressful as you don't have anyone to help you with things but it's a great oppertunity to meet new people/new friends and really live and do what you wanna do!!

You just really need to be streetwise and safe - the one main thing I would tell you not to do is get badly drunk. It really compromises your safety - so don't get plastered!

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
  • I am also planning a trip to NY on my own for the first time but I am looking at going after christmas.

Someone has recommended I book a guest room at the West Side YMCA. Does anyone know if this a reasonable area please? It is on West 63rd St apparently.

Looks to be about $90 for a single room with shared bath for a week which seems fine to me. i am just after somewhere to sleep after a hard days sight-seeing!

    Cheers

I really dont understand why people dont want to travel on their own, or are scared!! Its only for a few nights anyway, so I am sure you'll be fine - travelling on your own is the best thing you'll ever do. I'm in Australia and came here on my own & will be continuing my ongoing trip on my own. Its so liberating and you meet so many people.

If I'd waited for someone else to go travelling with then I still wouldnt be here.

Have the best time - you'll have a blast!!

    Wondered where you'd gone to!

    Whereabouts in Oz are you?

I'm leaving on the 7th November and returning on the 11th

Blimey, we'll just miss each other!! I'm going to NY on the 1st, returning on the 8th.

And yep, I'm another lone traveller - I love being selfish, doing what I want to do without having to worry about what anyone else wants to do!

Have you checked American Airlines? I booked my flight (Heathrow to JFK) a couple of weeks ago for £245 with them, they offered me lots of different flight times all for the same price, whereas Virgin only offered the (in my opinion) crappy times for the cheaper prices.

Oooh! I want a dunkin donuts coffee just thinking about it!

Do you know, I've been craving a Dunkin Donuts toasted bagel and cream cheese ever since I booked my trip...

Really hope you enjoy your trip pricey!!
