It'll be pretty easy to install GApps onto that phone I should imagine, I bet it has a root shell by default.

Problem with the OSD is that it's completely locked down at the moment, no root, no unlock, no fun.

Like me, the OP seems to be seeking a cheap dual-sim unlocked smartphone with a massive screen. I've been considering this 4.3" offering for £99.99 post paid; is the brand at&t? I know it's only 2.3, but that's advanced enough to use BBC iPlayer. Like the OP, I'm struggling to find a review.
I'm replacing my 2006 MDA Vario (WM5!)and know little about today's smartphones, so could I have your opinions please?

Edit: This comes direct from China, and if it arrives damaged you have to pay the postage back! We offer free repairing service within 1 year of purchase. For the first 2 months of purchase, we will pay one way shipping cost (from China to your location). After 2 months of purchase, the buyer need to pay 2 ways of shipping cost...... Buyers are responsible for the returning shipping costs under any circumstances.

AT&T is an American network operator, not the brand. The 'brand' is 'Pikie Chinese Knock Off', designed to look like a bit like a Sony handset, but with HTC lookalike Android skin.
  • You lot are braver than I - I just wouldn't have the guts to risk buying a mobile from China! If you want dual sim can't you just get a dual sim converter?

I'm not, it's just that I didn't realize it was a foreign vendor when I first posted. I guess the term 'cellphone' should have been a big clue!

I never even knew dual sim converters existed, so thanks for that info.

I think I might go for the Huawei G300. Is it likely to get any cheaper when the other carriers start selling it?

That's the $64,000 dollar question! Who knows but my personal opinion is that it may actually get more expensive as I have a feeling Vodafone may be subsidising it during its exclusive period in order to further their business (it's locked to them when you get it but I got an unlock code for a fiver from ebay and it worked like a dream!). My wife thinks the phone is the business and I certainly think it's 'worth' way more than £100! The Gorilla glass is definitely worth having as well! HTH.

Thanks to all who replied. The iPro phone is still a bit of a mystery - still can't find any reviews no one has replied claiming to own one. Looking at the specs in more detail the screen resolution of 400 x 800 and processor speed of 1Ghz are the same as the Huwaei G300 so despite the smaller screen it's probably a better buy at £70 less though there is the cost and inconvenience of unlocking and maybe updating the ROM to Android 4 at some stage. Also with the Huawei G300 you can read the reviews and other users comments and you know exactly what you are getting.

With regards to unlocking, I purchased a code off ebay for £4.99, it arrived by email 12 hours later, I input the 12 digit code as instructed and sim free with no hassle at all. Android 4/Ice Cream Sandwich free update is officially on its way very soon.. For £100, it's an absolute cracker.
