If people allow them to get away with it it's their fault as much as the retailers. I don't want them shut down thanks very much - I am quite happy to play their game and I'm very good at it. I am very thorough and careful with ANY company I deal with since the risks are quite obvious but not insurmountable.
Do you send your claims recorded or registered? Also do you send original or copy invoices?
I suppose the biggest danger is going with a company that was reliable and then seems to change for example Moble shop seem to have gone this way.

It all depends on the conditions of the cashback.

If they don't ask for originals, then always send copies, conversely, if they ask for originals and you only send a copy they have grounds for rejecting the claim.

Again, use registered (now called special) delivery if they want originals. Also note that if the claim gets lost in the post (even if sent special delivery) e2save now say they won't pay out on any part of the cashback, so to be safe you need to pay for consequential loss when sending off the claims.

A lot of people are having problems with mobileshop.com but they do seem to be getting paid up, eventually. Although my latest claim is now pushing 34 days overdue and they aren't responding, as they have in the past, to my threat of legal action. I'm afraid this time I'm actually going to have go through with the threat.

Anyway, I have a question about various delivery methods. I have used recorded, signed for delivery offered by Royal Mail: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400028&mediaId=500201&keyname=RECORDSIGN

Now I've not had a problem with doing this to date but what I have noticed is that 90% of the time I get no signature, even though it is supposed to be signed for.

What delivery method do other people use that's more reliable and forces the company to sign for the item?

Also I think if you're dealing with a particularly difficult company it might be worth taking out insurance as a delivery option. So should your item be "lost" in the post you can at least try to claim it from Royal Mail.

Yup, sure did but I think you misunderstood my post. From what I can see both delivery options offered by Royal Mail say they will get a signature on delivery. But I know that none of my recorded and signed for items have ever got a signature.

"Electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD) will provide you with a copy of the signature of the person who signed for the item."

So, do the Special Delivery items actually get signatures or do they just say they'll get one then don't similar to the Recorded Signed For option?

If it's to a PO Box they still need to sign for it on pick-up - I assume they will just sign 1 sheet at the Post Office to say they have picked up 'x' amount of special delivery items, which may explain why there is no signature on the tracking page.
Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...

Ok if that's the case and you don't get a signature for your actual item then could the retailer claim it was never delivered and would you have any proof to dispute that claim?

    The short answer:

Send special delivery with consequential loss.

So really and truly there is no reliable way to prove delivery. The best you can do is insure yourself with the delivery company.

However most t&c that I have seen tell you to send by recorded delivery so if you have followed their their rules that should be enough if taken to law.
