got to month 5 to claim £82.50 cashback based on guidelines, then refused, have sent numerous emails still refused, this is not what i expected when i bought this phone.mobileshop say im late as i should have sent bill 5 in month 4,it isnt clear on the guidelines!!!
be aware,mobileshop.com do not honour cashback!!!

onecompare staff can chase up claims on your behalf if you brought the phone through them. Speak to onecompare staff via their website.

They say all my future claims are void now. .

that would be a breach of contract terms. I would speak to trading standards about that.

I have to agree with bluep on this one.

To the OP, I would suggest that you carefully check the T & C that you signed up to. All you then need to do is to check whether or not you’ve followed them to the letter.

If so, and you’ve got provable facts/documentation to follow up on, then chase them up firmly but politely via email; if not however, then it will have been you and not Mobileshop.com that have not adhered to the cashback terms and it may be perfectly possible that you will be unable to claim any of the remaining payments.

Even if it was a genuine mistake that you made, it is by making strict and tightly enforced T & C that those retailers who offer cashback deals make their money.

I have just signed with coolnewmobile for a 12 month cashback deal and would be grateful for advice as I am struggling to understand something in their terms and conditions and am trying to avoid making a mistake. It is clear that they want me to send bills after 120, 180, 240, 300 and 360 days to receive cashback. However after stating this they also state:

' This form must be correctly completed in full, and have the correct original bill attached to be valid. Failure to claim correctly within 1 calendar month of the instalment bill date will void this and all future instalments.'

My question is: 'What do they mean by within 1 calendar month of the instalment bill date'? Do I have to send them a copy of the first bill within the first month of instalment as well as five cashback claims or are they refering to the first cashback following 120 days since intalment. This may be obvious to someone else but I have to confess it is not to me.

Many thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

    Hi nena,
basically it means that the bill you receive between 120 to 150 days from the contract date as well as all the previous ones along with the claims voucher (that was emailed to you) need to be sent in. ie your phone is connected on the 1st of Jan, then the bill that arrives between the 1st of May and the 1st of June is the trigger to send in your first claim!

I don't know if this is what was intended - but your reply suggests ( the way I read it) that all previous invoices to the first claim invoice need to to be sent in.
Reading the CNM T&C's its only the one invoice showing the 120 days+ connection - see below.

Send us the claim form and original monthly bill showing your name, address, mobile number and tariff you are connected on, that arrives showing you have been connected for 4 months. i.e. if you were connected on the 1st of January, you need to send in the bill that is dated around the 1st of May. This is 120 days (4 months) after connection.
  • Phone box direct (PBD) rejected my 2nd claim stating that I failed send the second page of my bill. I disputed their claim and appealed to the customer relations. I retained as always the copy of what I sent and know they are lieing! I got another automated letter from the customer service of mobile media Ltd (PBD) today. They are clearly well versed in their practices and fib stories. I complained to trading standards and am waiting on them and there findings. I have copied all the comments from these forums (including moneysupermarket) to help substantiate my claim. They may feel they can get away with but I intend to pursue the matter fully. I know I have not incorrectly submitted my claim. Thanks again. Let’s keep the pressure on fellow sufferers. PBD need to be shut down.

I wish you luck emlonw but the sad truth is that a lot of these companies have got away with it. This is why they are still telling untruths in their attempts at stopping you from getting your rightful cashbacks. I think it is about time that the network operators were also held liable for the disgraceful way that these retailors operate. After all they are their middlemen!
  • If people allow them to get away with it it's their fault as much as the retailers. I don't want them shut down thanks very much - I am quite happy to play their game and I'm very good at it. I am very thorough and careful with ANY company I deal with since the risks are quite obvious but not insurmountable.
