we brought the tommee tippee one for my DS with the mat and i must say, although we use the mat everynight, the mat seems to get us up more often than baby! if he rolls off of it or it doesnt detect his breathing (even thou its on the most sensitive setting) it goes off.

I feel its a bit like 'the boy who cried wolf' and wont have it off when hes in the cot incase 'we should have used it' god forbid if that shud ever happen! we didnt use it while he was in his moses basket. only from 3 months onwards when he went in his own room.

I wouldnt be without it but in all honesty the mat can be a pain in the harris!

We've got the Angelcare one without the monitor. Obviously you know I can't tell you what I think of it yet but it was recommended to me by a friend. Her close friend's LO was saved by this model.

I didn't get the one with the video monitor as I felt I would be constantly watching the screen. Also I'm not sure there is a lot to be gained from the it.

We got ours from Tesco as they tend to sell it cheaper then we used clubcard vouchers when they had their recent voucher exchange so it only cost us £40.

We have opted for just a sound monitor. As another poster has said, unless you know what to do if there is a problem there's no point in having one. That, and I think they are preying on parent's fears. It is natural to feel worried of course, and if new parents think it will help to allay those fears, then fair enough. I am pretty much marvelling about all the 'stuff' I apparently need to spend money on, and wonder how woman in cave could possibly have managed....
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

We've had the Angelcare monitors with motion pad for both our children, and definitely recommend them. Our eldest 2 are only 18m apart and in the same room, so it was important that there was no interference with having them both in together. As they've grown older it's useful to still have the sensor pad as we can tell when one has got out of bed when they shouldn't!

We've had maybe a handful of false alarms between both of them, which I'm more than happy with considering the peace of mind I've had.

When the 3rd comes along in September I'll be using the same monitor again :)

Do you mind me asking what age you stopped using your Angelcare? I'm curious really at what age they tend to get too old for them :)
