Tah.
I`m on the Essentials package.
The monthly allowance for this is 40gb download, which I find is ample.
I get 13 meg download speed on my desktop which has an ethernet cable but I also get the same on my laptop via wifi.
I would say I`m within 1 mile of my exchange which is LLU.
I would say the speed is pretty constant and I`ve never noticed a slow down at "peak times".
I do a regular speed test via the TT site and find it`s generally between the 12 and 13 megs download speed.
As far as I know at the moment TT are offering an UNLIMITED download to new customers for £3-25 a month plus line rental.
Also it`s free connection saving £30.
On 1st Oct last year customers were given the option to pay the yearly line rental upfront in a one off lump sum which works out at £9-50 a month.

Also go through this site to get a big cashback.

The best way of getting tech service from TalkTalk is not via their call centres but through their technical forums which you access via their web site (that is providing the problem is not so severe that you cannot access the internet).
If you post on the relevant forum a techie will respond quite quickly - and usually several other users who have had a similar problem.0 -
Well late last night I had a conflab with a TT online sales rep and was told the Esentials package is twelve months half price and unlimited for new signups till the 25th July and after that who knows what the offer might be revised to?
I asked what happens after the first year is up and would it be something like a a rolling contract? Answer was Essentials will go back to being a capped download (probably as 2010 is on now) and best bet would be to call the Retentions Department and haggle a new deal out with them. Doesn't mean much to me but I guess you ring and say I wanna leave coz your service stinks (or something similar) and get them to squirm for your business. Again 2010 probably knows more about this in view of the time scale he's been with them. So oldagetraveller I don't think you need worry what happens after the first year as it'll be in your hands and not theirs if you sign up.
I had a look on the online forums (as david39 pointed out) and I'm impressed...they really get things sorted out pdq so unless you have a total connection failure thats the way to go with your troubles and cut out the foreign call centres all together.
So after all that I'm gonna give it a go...my only reservation is if I get a crap service and want to buy my way out before twelve months is up I would have to go back to BT for line rental to look for another supplier. That stinks because I think (altho not certain) that BT would insist on a twelve month contract for line rental and that would mean two contract buy outs in the end and that ain't cheap apples.
However I'm thinking it won't come to all that as TT'S bb can't be that bad and it's just the customer service side of the operation that gets the bad headlines (or so it seems to me.)
Oh well here goes......0 -
After 6 years with MAAF and paying now £14/month for 20Gb limit, I phoned retentions for a reduction, they advised that was the lowest they could go? A bit puzzled about that. They offered Plusnet 60Gb for £9/month but my 'phone line and calls would have to be transferred also (pre pay for £9.49/month inludes evening & weekend calls). I did mention my inclination to go with TalkTalk LLU. I declined but reserved the right to take it up later.
I signed up with TalkTalk Essentials, £114 up front for £9.50/month line rental (transfer from Primus) and £7.75/m b/b and all inclusive calls. I 'phoned to cancel this morning and was immediately offered 3 months free b/b which I declined. After "speaking to a manager" he offered 6 months free b/b and would credit my account with £46+. Yes please! I'll cross the twelve month hurdle when it comes. Fingers crossed nothing goes awry. They must be desperate for new custom?0 -

Well I don't use Twitter Mark and I hope I never have to
While here can you help me with something maybe?
I signed up on Tuesday (opting finally for the Plus package for a couple reasons that I won't go into here) and my little bonus is some voucher from Love2shop (or I think it's them anyway but not sure as My Account is down and I can't check it for the moment.)
Yesterday a flyer from TT was mixed in with my post offering the two deals as on the website but with a £30 Welcome Credit (for either Essentials or Plus) instead of the voucher I've got. The offer ends on the 25th so no different to what's online.
I was wondering if I can have the credit instead of the voucher. What do you think?
I go live on or around the 1st August so would I have to wait until then to enquire or could you fix something for me if I sent you my account details by pm?
Please can you fix it for me?
Cheers...Colin0 -

I was just thinking...6months free broadband is the same as 12 months at half price isn't it? That would make it the same offer you signed up to originally and so no saving there
Unless they gave you 6 'extra' months free and maybe now you could be tied into an 18 month contract. I think I might check on that just to be on the safe side.
The £46 credit sounds real when compared to the £30 I've seen in a recent flyer from TT so I wouldn't be concerned about that bit.
I might be misinterpreting you're post but I am dubious about anything that's 'free' so just thought I'd comment on it.0 -

The link I gave you was for a £60-60p cashback, what happened?0 -

Hi Colin,
There are often different offers for different types of sign up. If you wanted to change this you would need to cancel your order then replace it (which may be more time consuming than the saving for changing your offer).
If you do wish to do so you would need to speak to the cancellations team to cancel the order then the sales team to place a new one
