Another jet2 rip-off

I made a mistake on a family name for a flight only to Spain. But didn`t realise until 3 weeks before flying-all my fault I know.

I rang them and was told the total cost would be £210.50p which is about £3.00 more than the actual flights including luggage ect.

I hadn`t booked in at that time, only printed the tickets. I expected to be charged about £35 each way but was told there was an `uplift' charge. the time took about 15 mins with a new e-mail sent plus a 10p phone charge per min. CAN THIS BE LEGAL. ???

A warning to all. CHECK every detail carefully. I think you may have 48 hours to change details for free?

Anyone else been a victim and what happened?:(

Was it just a spelling mistake?

I had a spelling mistake corrected by Jet2 without any charge. It was a typo where one letter from the family surname had been omitted.

    What was the actual change?

We don't know what sort of 'mistake' it was.

their T&Cs do say that the admin fee + change in flight price = amendment charges even for a misspelling...so while I would imagine it's frustrating, it is clearly stated in the accepted T&Cs.

If the name change being made is not a change of person, but to correct a mistake made at the time of making the original booking, then the appropriate charges will still be levied.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Use of word "Rip-off": Check.
    Use of capitals: Check
    Questioning legality: Check

So just another person who clicked to say they had read the T&C's when in fact they hadn't. Next!

Why do people never seem to check before hitting the buy button?

OP - Its to stop people buying cheap flights, then selling the tickets on at a higher price near the time and changing the names.

Whenever i book flights, i like to have the passports in hand, and copy the details over like4like..

Many of the major airlines won't allow name changes at all - so the only option is to buy a new ticket.

Most of the low costs will allow minor changes IF you catch them early - but if it's a change from say John Smith to Jack Jones they always assume it's a change of person and not name
