post here, details of your lender and when you submitted your claims, lets monitor how well banks are meeting the fos guidelines of 8 weeks
and lets monitor how fos enforce those guidelines
Lloyds now writing letters to people asking for a further 8 weeks ie 16 weeks now in total , 4 months from date claim sent
what are you experiencing with your lender right now? how long have you been waiting for?

I had a loan with NatWest which expired approx 12-18mths ago.
I don't know if I had PPI or not; but in hindsight I am guessing I probably did as the bank manager I saw at the time gave me credit cards and changed my bank account to one of those that you pay £15 a month for (which I didn't want or ask for) - took me approx 3 months to get my bank account sorted back to the original non fee paying one!
Seeing all the info about missold PPI got me thinking which is why I'm trying to find out if there was PPI on the loan. I'm currently on ESA and was on ESA for approx last year on the loan, so therefore if I had known I'd got PPI on the loan I would have used that to repay it. Which I didn't.
I went into the bank end of April to enquire if there had been PPI on the loan account. They took my details and send off a request for further information. I've still not heard anything so went back into the bank this week to find out why only to be told there is a backlog of approx 6 months!!!!
Is this true and is there anything I can do to hurry things along? I've not applied for repayment of missold PPI, I'm just trying to find out if there was PPI on the loan!
Thanks0 -
And obviously if I am able to claim back any missold PPI it's going to help my current financial position as I will be able to make a better repayment offer to my creditors than they are receiving from me at present.0

yes thats a disgrace, so you have gone to the bank to find out if you have ppi , and 6 months later then still havent advised you -
and we read papers with negative pr storys about 6% of claims not having ppi
and about how the numbers has surged by200% when its a misleading stat as number was and still is so low
and the real issue is the number of claims that do have ppi and have been mis sold and do not compensating for , thats the real story here
just amazing there is so much of the kings new clothes going around on this, beware people on here who are ex ifas or wwho give advice to ifas on how to defend claims, they will not help you they are being paid to be on here0 -
martin lewis got into bed with the banks before checking out anything like that
he then announces how he has streamlined the process
at the same time you are waiting 6 months for basic info, and lloyds gone to 16 weeks to judge on claims
sickening isnt it, then go and read the pr and you will see how far away the truth is from the truth that is being presented0 -
If you have asked for specific information about a specific account that is not a Data Subject Access Request - so it is not subject to the 40 day limit.
Asking for specific information about a specific account is also not a complaint - so it is not subject to the FSA's complaint resolution rules and the 8 week limit does not apply.
If the account is closed then it is a low priority request to an organisation that is inundated with complaints which may or may not be justified.0 -

So as the account is closed 6 months is perfectly acceptable. I guess they're hoping I'll forget all about it.
Would have been nice to have had a written acknowledgement at least, with an indication of how long before they get back to me. Surely the bank staff could have done that when I originally asked.
Ok I guess I wait until the end of October and go back again :sad:0 -

However, you don't have to wait until October at all. You need to write a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter which costs £10 and the Lender is legally obliged to respond within 40 days. It will provide all records they hold on you for at least the last six years.
There is an excellent template letter here:

Do be aware that any subsequent redress (awarded as a result of a successful PPI complaint) is likely to be used to offset loan amounts which have been written off as the result of a debt easing arrangement.0 -
so much for the banks treating people fairly why didnt they advise you off that in the first place, how many people wont come on a forum hence the reason for representation, didnt martin cover this point off with the banks when he streamlined the new process he publicised a few weeks ago0

Two problems with that. As ppidisgrace knows - because I have pointed it out to him many times, his regulator, the Ministry of Justice says, in Client Specific Rule 12 on page 8 of the Conduct of Authorised Persons Rules 2007, Where a claim is one that falls within the province of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Housing
Ombudsman Service or any other recognised dispute resolution procedure, the business must not suggest that a claimant will have a more favourable outcome if he uses the services of the business.". It repeats it here.
However, the reality is that since any payment will go to your creditors first, you would almost certainly end up worse off.
Moneyineptitude has given you better guidance.0 -

The 8 week limit is not an ''FOS guidline'' but in fact an FSA rule in DISP.
I've got my head in my hands.0
