Christ - what would Defender of the Weak do if he was that passenger??!
Can you sue a corpse for dying?0 -
Its stories like this that really put me off flying BA...they make their own problems!!If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

To be fair it happens on most airlines who would face the same issue!
Singapore Airlines are likely to have a 'chiller' on board their new A380's should it happen. Problem is though the response should you put someones granny over your shoulder and shove them in a glorified fridge. If you have a very full plane, it's really difficult, thus the crew can do what they deem fit.
IMHO the crew did the best thing by minimising disruption in difficult circumstances.
BTW A pilot died recently mid-flight. They left him in the seat though as dragging him through the plane might have seen a few batted eyelids.0 -
I feel they should have "curtained" off an area for the remains and the greiving family to give them privacy, also to stop passengers wakening up next to a corpse! If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

How can they curtain off an area, best they can do is cover the corpse with a blanket, and hope the gases and bodily fluids dont start leaking.0

if they start providing airborne graveyards people will only complain that the ticket prices have gone up due to reduced passenger numbers.
maybe they could have ejected the body out the back Star Trek style, or locked the grieveing family in a toilet cubicle with the corpse for some private time. I don't actually see what else an airline can do in the circumstances.0 -
Seems to me they should've moved some of the people from (say) the back row of economy into the spare first class seats and shoved the body back there.
You pay a massive supplement to fly in first class, the least they can do is not prop bodies up next to you.0 -
Problem was that was the only spare seat on the plane.
The 1st class passenger had the option of taking the corpses seat in economy..0 -

so instead of 1 first class passenger complaining you would have had 4 rows of economy passengers complaining (which would have soon no doubt been half the plane once someone utters the word 'compensation')
if you're in the middle of the sky, you want to reduce disruption so you go to the quietest part fo the plane or the busiest with a corpse in tow?0
