Like all criticisms of the Welafre Reform, this will get 'buried' along with all of the other questions of the house.
The Welfare Reform will go ahead, no ifs, no buts!

Cameron is NOT listening, the people are COMPLAINING, Cameron and his #torytoffscum are NOT listening. The people should FORCE HIM TO LISTEN because lives are being swearworded up because of ATOS which is basically disability denial.
The people least likely to cope on independently are being forced to bear burden by swinging welfare cuts with Tory appetites cruelly for more.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

A heads up...... I was watching Jon Snows Dispatches report on the banks earlier and at the end it they said that next weeks Dispatches is going to be "Britain on the Sick"
As its Channel 4 im hoping that means theres more chance that it will be covered more fairly.0 -
We can expect Classic Benefits Bashers line to be spun to add Channel 4's contribution to the hatred and endangerment of those on Benefits. BAD.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Tax DLA? I'd just quit work. Working disabled people get the short end of the stick when it comes to accessing services (because social workers work 9-5 and most stuff is means tested so even if you're on 15.5kpa you're expected to fund door widening, a wet room, fall alarm, specialist mattress, hoists and pre-cooked meals). Of course working makes me feel sane but there's only so much I'm willing to do before I pack it in and sit on my aris all day. Means testing DLA will be the straw that breaks this camels back.
But there are many claimants of DLA that for financial reasons don't need the extra cash.
We had two Prime Ministers, one from each party that thought it was OK to claim DLA.
Given that, should it not be restricted to those that don't have other resources? A means testing would eliminate millionaires accessing the benefit which is a good thing in my humble opinion!!0 -

I pay for everything like that myself + more besides, I bought an old pub purely because it is big enough to wheel round and have a sperate bathroom kitted out for my sole use, I owned a three bed semi pre accident and I loved that house but it jusr wasnt big enough for a severely disabled person.
My disability needs cost much more than my DLA pays, I currently need yet another new mattress and temur mattress-es are not cheap but they are all I can sleep on as I have pressure sores and cannot stand the NHS air mattress the NHS loaned me.
Working tax credits make it very lucrative for disabled people to work the minimum amount allowed to claim them, they are worth more than the DLA award in many cases so disabled people can work minimum hours, pay not tax or NI in many cases (as they dont earn enough) so taxing DLA would only affect people who have a double dip as it were by claiming disability benefits twice which is more fair than some schemes especially as ESA/IB is taxable.0 -

How is that going to fit in with UC?
From what I understand you will be expected to work full time.
Are they still to allow the disabled to work only 16 hours a week AND get full benefit as currently they do under WTC?0 -
My WTC award is only worth £30 a week, if I were to quit work I'd make more than that in housing benefit alone. I think if you claim DLA and work 16 hours you'd have a lower income and so qualify for more tax credits but if you work 40 hours then it's really not worth much at all. If I didn't have to fund every little thing on the basis of social services not bothering to see me on my day off (and I have tried to be flexible with them) then I probably wouldn't bother.
As it is I still sleep on a mattress that isn't approved for seizures, I don't have the fall alarm as I can't afford the monthly fees because I don't qualify for help with those, I don't have a hoist - we use transfer boards and I don't get any home care at all from the state even though I would qualify on paper but the carers can't guarantee coming in before I go to work in the morning.
The only help I get is access to work support which seems to be a constant battle, you do have to wonder if there's any point working at all.0
