No they won't - appeals against a pass ("inverted" appeals) are always free. It's only if you're appealing against a fail that they charge.
not up to date with mots, but why any one would want to appeal ageist a pass for a wear and tear item which would have to be done at some point in ownership anyway

It's usually done be people who've just bought something with a "full MOT" who find problems that shouldn't have passed.

Also, something like a handbrake failure or, say, a burst brake flexi may well have "needed to be done anyway" but being failed for it because it was badly deteriorated (even if it still worked) may, as in this case, have prevented an accident and extra expense. Or worse.

If that happens, it's perfectly reasonable to question why the place who took your money to professionally inspect it didn't spot the frayed cable or bulging brake flexi!

Does the C4 have an electrically controlled hand/parking brake?
If so, therein lies the problem!

Was going to suggest that - I always leave my car in gear.

I thought everyone did - madness not to.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

I don't - not much point with a centrifugal clutch that won't engage unless the engine's running.

Useful anti-theft device though cos if you start in neutral then try to put it in gear you break the propshaft and go nowhere :D

Pretty useless car if the propshaft breaks when you drop it into gear from neutral.

One question. How do the MOT testers test electronic parking brakes?. With proper cable handbrakes they check for handbrake travel. So what do they look for with a system that is a simple push-button ?.
