if you really want to go then I would go and worry about the rest later, just visit a job centre where you are and get evidence etc, if they then want to be sad fookers then thats up to them, worst thing that will happen is you loose a few days payments, more work for them and expense for the tax payer, at least you showed your respects to your friend, I would also send an email to your MP about this, not that will change much but it may and at least they will either change their voting choices or you will make it that much harder for them to carry on voting for these reforms.

    Ignore that.

If you go to the funeral, tell the jobcentre where you are going and give them your mobile number. get somebody at home if you can to calls on your landline and let you know if any prospective employers call. Tell the job centre about that person.

    Simple as that

um, availability as in one of the conditions of entitlement to JSA, a weekly condition. Not availability as in available for a 5 minute appointment.

My JSA was always fortnightly apart from one month where it was weekly. I'm not sure why you're complaining? Going to a funeral does not break any JSA conditions. Any 5 minute JSA appointment can be rescheduled for the next day as can any job interview.

I'm not complaining, neither am I talking about any appointment.

Whilst attendance is fortnightly, the condition of entitlement of availability is a weekly condition. What that means is if you are not available on a single day then you arenot available for the whole week.

I don't know how to say more simply that it isn't about a 5 minute appointment

Really? Could you demonstrate that because I don't see it.

I really don't mean to sound like a !!!!!!, but I haven't seen a post from anybody that leads me to believe they have any understanding of the subject matter. I've been a labour market decision maker for many years and, considering this is a labour market question, I'm very confident that what I say is correct

that's just what it is about, if the OP could sign a different day no problem, it's the 5 min appointment that is the problem, all the rest is designed to make life as difficult as possible so people sign off.

A rule saying if you are not available for one day your not the rest of the week:rotfl: so monday not available so the rest of the week the OP can not look for a job, hey why stop at a week why not lets say not available for one day no money for a year.

Some people on here have nothing on the Daily Mail!

Please sir can I go to a funeral...no you !!!!!!! can't I need a bit of paper signed

correct? it was advice you offered which is wrong as the OP has already said the jobcentre has written on the OP's file he could not go to the funeral and if he didnt sign on then thy knew it was because he had went to the funeral when he was told he couldn't, what is correct about your post then?

I said to get evidence he was still looking for a job on the day of the funeral and to visit the job centre, why should my advice be ignored but yours ADVICE is correct? as you never gave any facts in the post I quoted but ADVICE.

I don't know how to respond to this. It has nothing to do with my opinion or what paper I read, it's the law. It has nothing to do with looking for work, it has to do with the definition of availability for work as per the law.

I don't we should continue this because I'm posting with authorative knowledge and you're, well, I dunno

you're confusnig a multitude of different conditions and melding them into one.

EDIT: I know more about this than your average job centre worker. What they do or do not write on any file is meaningless. If you read what Ipost you'll see I've explained what the OP needs to do to continue her claim.

I said go to the funeral, get evidence and worry about the rest later, you said go to the funeral tell the jobcentre (they already know it's on his file, that why I didn't suggest he do it again) prove you were still looking for a job, which is what I aid but for some reason when you say it it's the rules but when I say it it's to b ignored:rotfl:
