You may not believe this but it's been absolutely balmy here in the Garden of England today. I know from reading some of the other diaries that it's been windy and raining elsewhere but it's been absolutely gorgeous here.

I'm not sure I really did anything MS today but here goes:
    • some friends arrived at lunchtime bringing belated birthday presents - lemon cupcakes, a bottle of champagne and some beautiful daffodil tea light candles from Laura Ashl£y which look lovely on the windowsills in my dining room. There are four cupcakes left over for Mr F's lunches this week
    • walked to the local pub across the muddy countryside (3 miles). So I suppose that qualifies as saving fuel?
    • sat in the beer garden to eat our Sunday roast - £35.45 (the boys drank rather a lot of beer). T-shirts were out in force!
    • staggered back home through the lanes to avoid collecting any more mud (another 3 miles in fuel saved)
    • sat in the back garden drinking tea and eating aforementioned cupcakes followed by a selection of last year's fruit liquers :o
    • friends left about 6 pm and it was still light and warm enough for Mr F to mow the lawn
    • there is some Macaroni Cheese left over for supper tonight. Good job really as I'm too warm and sleepy from the sun and alcohol to do anything other than veg on the sofa tonight.
Duckie enjoyed basking in the sunshine today and I'm hoping the change in temperature will encourage the ducklings to hatch. I'll keep you posted.

Hope you've had a good weekend

No Duckie hasn't managed to finally hatch her eggs. In fact, when I left the house this morning I noticed that she'd abandoned them to the elements again. No, one of the horses in the field adjoining our back garden had a foal this morning. I must have just missed it being born as it was looking very new and shaky when I noticed it. It's very pretty, a black and white painted pony. I can't tell if it's a boy or a girl yet as the mare is keeping it at a distance.

Lots of loaves to report for a change:
    • went into the office for the first day of my new admin contract. All went well so it looks as though I'll have a regular day a month from now on. I can claim separately for this work and immediately afterwards rather than at the end of the month
    • someone had bought a tin of biscuits in for the staff so I had 2 of those at morning coffee break (it would have been rude not to)
    • drank the office coffee all day
    • took some home made soup and rolls in with me for my lunch. Plus one of the birthday cup cakes leftover from Sunday
    • couldn't spend anything because I was at work :rotfl:
    • Mr F came home to report he is being given a 2% pay rise :j We're really surprised as didn't expect anything in the current climate
    • Italian Sausage, Puy Lentil and Rosemary Stew with Mashed Potatos from the meal plan for supper tonight. Plenty left for my supper for the next couple of days too as Mr F is away from tomorrow.
Hope you've all had a great start to the week too
