Not sure what I would do about the voucher  probably use it - yes the hairdresser has already given you a huge discount but then they didn't have to send you the additional discount voucher!

    Happy birthday Fortune

I would probably use the voucher too, seeing as they've sent it. But then I'm soft and I'd probably tip more or buy a little product to make up for it. :D

Thank you everyone for the very kind birthday wishes. It was lovely to open my diary and see so many of you popping by. I am feeling particularly grateful for my friends today for a number of reasons.

    MS:
    • went to the end of term cafe breakfast with some of the local mums yesterday morning - £4.65
    • a friend and I went to the out of town shopping estate after. 1 long handled radiator brush - £6.99 (made the mistake of looking behind the dining room bureau this week - it's like a scene from arachnophobia behind there  and I suspect there is similar behind the big wardrobe in my bedroom). Also bought a scratch pad for the Fortunate Cat to see whether I can persuade her to stop using the bottom stair carpet  It's the only spot in the house she's damaged but there's more stair than carpet there now - £7.99. Oh the glamour of my life :rotfl:
    • it's Mr F's birthday next week so I picked up a cake for him to take into work - £8.99 plus a little mini cake cube to put in his lunch box on the day - £1.29
    • invited friend back to mine for lunch so we didn't have the cost of eating out - Halloumi and Puy Lentil Salad with Sweet Potato Falafel and Pitta Bread, Lemon Curd Fool with Stawberries and Almond Thins to follow. Also had a cheeky glass of white. I've told her I eat like that every lunchtime at the dining room table with the candelabra lit :rotfl:
    • picked up her children after school and headed back to another friends house for gossip and wine. Lots of the children and mums and dads were there and Mr F joined us later when he got back from work. A thoroughly nice and unexpected social evening
    • they let us borrow some of their DVDs. They were films we had intended to see at the cinema but didn't get round to it. After B1ack Swan I don't think I want to spend any more money on DVDs - even Fleabay ones!
    • Mr F made the mistake of leaving some change in the study this morning - 38p for Mr Marmite.
Two pieces of sad news this week. One friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's been caught early and they think they can get away with a lumpectomy but a very worrying time for the family. Also, my neighbour's husband has been made redundant. They don't have anything to fall back on so we're keeping our fingers crossed that he finds work quickly. Thankfully he can freelance which may help to keep things going. Mr F has offered to do any work they need on their cars to keep the bills down for them.

It did make me think about how things would be without them around or close by. Our lives are definately better because of the people in them.

    To good friends.

Thanks Barbeduk. I love BBCG00dF00d - soooo many recipes and lots of feedback from people who've already tried them. Waitr0$£ is quite good too.
