  • Yes, I'm afraid my splurge did not end yesterday. In the search for new pyjama tops to go with the new bottoms I ventured onto M&S0utl£t and came away one pyjama top, one top and shrug set and one waistcoat  Admittedly, they were on my list to buy but I couldn't find anything I liked in the shops yesterday. Remembered to go through TCB.

    So not so MS today:
    • forgot to say that I'd also bought a necklace and earing set yesterday
    • got an email from the doorbell company saying that they will give me a refund. Packaged it back up to take to the P0$t 0ffic£ tomorrow.
    • got paid for the 2nd Fleabay item so have packed that up as well
    • two Tillytidies OP'd - 42p and 80p
    • withdrew my Paypa1 balance - £6.11 OP'd
    • a cupboard lunch and supper today as Mr F is away with work tonight
    • did some admin work
    • a DIY manicure
I'm off to bed now. Mr F has picked up a nasty cold and kept me awake tossing and turning all night. I sent him off to work with a care package of various cold treatments. Horrible for him to be away from home when he's ill but good for me because at least one of us will get some sleep tonight.

I'm going out to lunch with two of my girl friends tomorrow - a spur of the moment thing. I'm feeling a bit twitchy about it having spent so much money already but we all have vouchers so the bill shouldn't be too bad and I won't be driving this time. I really must stop feeling guilty about spending and going out - lillies and loaves after all.

Anyhow, I don't expect to spend anything more on myself but will pick up some sport socks for Mr F if I see any. He doesn't seem to have many pairs and runs out quite quickly. He had to get some out of the linen basket to wear the other day - I'm such a bad wife :rotfl:

Hope your week has started well

I always think it's lovely to spend the day with a friend mooching and having a nice lunch. It's good to get away from work and the children sometimes. I enjoy all of this more than the shopping itself. Some might be surprised but I'm not really a shopper - just prefer to order what I want on the internet.
  • Thank you everybody. I have had a fab week lunching and shopping but enough's enough - time to reign things back in now.

    Spending and saving today:
    • one of my girl friends drove so no petrol cost for me :)
    • my turn to pay for parking though - £3 :(
    • didn't find any sports socks for Mr F :(
    • did find a lovely top in the sale in Laura Ashley - £16 :o
    • had a lovely lunch in Caf£ R0ug£ :)
    • used 25% off food voucher :)
    • most of the bill was for wine :o
    • went to P0st 0ffic£ to post Fleabay item and send back door bell :)
    • return cost for door bell was £3.25 :(
    • bought some serviettes and chocolates for a Valentine's lunch I'm hosting on Sunday - £8.24
    • M&S0nlin£ order arrived. Haven't had time to try anything on yet though.
    • a cupboard supper as Mr F is away again this evening
    • did the Waitr0$£ shop - coming in at about £4 over budget as I bought a few extras for Sunday but I may get some freebies on the day
    • 60p for Mr Marmite
    • ordered wine from Laithwait£$ - those Avi0s points weren't going to last forever :rotfl:
You're absolutely right about the shopping lulabelle. I normally go along for the day out and usually don't buy anything. I'd buy clothes regularly when I was working but find I don't need as much now. Every now and again I have a splurge but I save my personal spends up for that. The problem I have at the moment is I've dropped a dress size in the last year so don't have much that fits now. I'm not complaining about that though it's a lovely problem to have :rotfl:

  • Yesterday was an NSD so I think I am officially towing the line again.

    MS yesterday:
    • Step class first thing
    • a cupboard lunch - salad to make up for two lunches out this week
    • kept myself occupied with housework so as not to spend anything
    • tried on the M&S0nlin£ buys. A long silvery grey knitted waistcoat with mohair - £16 (half price) and a floaty top with separate jersey shrug - £20 (£8 off). Both are fine. The shrug will be useful as I can wear it with other things too. The third item was supposed to be a fleece pyjama top but I received some (very short) jogging bottoms instead :rotfl: They'll be going back and I'm just trying to find out what postal service to use to make sure it's one I'll get a refund for. The best thing is they are all in a size 10 :D
    • called the mortgage company to get a balance update. Apparently, because my overpayments are adhoc, I will have to tell them each time whether I want to reduce the monthly payment or the overall term. We want to reduce the monthly payment (although we'll OP any reduction) as we want to keep access to further borrowing. If either of the fields adjoining our property come up for sale we'd like to be in a position to buy them. The £250ish I've OP'd so far equals £3 less on the monthly payment.
    • Fish curry from the freezer for supper.
Mr F came home last night. His nasty cold has turned into a nasty cough so I am looking after him carefully. I know how horrible it is when you have to go to work when you're ill so I will be pampering him over the weekend.

    Hope you are all well

  • I was supposed to be cooking a Valentines lunch for friends today but they both have the lurgy and, Mr F's cough was worse yesterday, so it would have been a sorry affair. We've taken a rain check. So I've had a free Sunday on my hands for MSing:
    • went to an admin meeting last night. It was at a colleagues house and we were treated to a fabulous, gourmet, 3 course meal
    • snaffled about 17p of Mr F's change for Mr Marmite - well if he will leave it lying around the house :rotfl:
    • a cupboard lunch
    • lots of admin work completed
    • Mushroom and Spinach Lasagne planned for tonight's supper
It is snowing outside and blowing a gale but we are snuggled up in front of the log burner - Mr F with his beer and me with a hot chocolate. Sadly, I am having to suffer the rugby but it will be finished soon and then I intend to doze on the sofa in front of a film. Before I can do that, however, I will have to brave the freezing temperature in the garage. Mr F did some work on his Landie earlier and needs help bleeding the brakes. It can't be left in case the snow settles and he needs to use it. Not looking forward to that - Brrrrrrrr!

    Keep warm

  • Mr F left for work as usual this morning but was back home by 10.30. The lurgy got the better of him. He has taken to his bed (only known this to happen once before in the 11 years we've known each other) and is making good use of the intercom facility on the 'phone to order cups of tea and L£m$ip as required.

I am keeping everything crossed that I don't get it. I have felt a little under the weather for the last few days but that could just be because Mr F's cough has disturbed my sleep as well. I'm pretty robust in most respects but a bad cold will completely throw me. The thyroid thing means it takes a bit longer for me to recover and colds are also a trigger for me for asthma so I live in fear of catching a nasty one. Let's hope Fortune keeps smiling on me.

Not much MS today as I have been busy nurse maiding:
    • no Step this morning as felt a bit poorly
    • a tiny bit of admin work
    • a cupboard lunch (Mr F had his packed lunch at home)
    • leftover Spinach & Mushroom Lasagne for supper with comfort chips and peas
    • an NSD
Here's hoping Mr F turns the corner tonight and we're both well tomorrow.

    Good health everyone
