  • Mr F and I have opened a red. On a school night. It's all rock and roll in the Fortunate household.

I have indulged myself further by spending the whole day painting :j and this is the result https://pmp-art.com/gaynor-hill/gallery/178404/on-the-swings. It's not quite finished yet but I've lost the light so will have to have a final look tomorrow.

I did do a little admin. Mr F and I are booked into the opticians for next week. We both need new glasses so that will be an expensive day.

Plus the TV is on it's last legs. Plus the washing machine is playing up. I can feel the bank account trembling as I type :rotfl:

Lunch was leftover Avocado & Bacon Frittata without the avocado. And supper was Mushroom & Spinach Lasagne

Loving having a few quiet days at home with Mr F. I'll have to make the most of it while I can. He's up for promotion and that will mean even more travelling

Over the hump we go :)

Glad to hear you survived the wedding and are now getting back to normal. I tried your (well Good Food's) recipe for baked leek and bacon risotto tonight - it is scrummy and so easy. Who knew you could bake risotto ? I used pudding rice as it is much cheaper and it worked just as well.
  • Hi Fortune,

I'm another one who's just read your diary (I don't have a great deal to do in the evenings at the moment so I'm reading a lot) and I just wanted to say I find the bread and lilies thoughts really nice :) Myself and Gentleman Caller are in the process of buying our first house, and when we looked at our budget we realised we wouldn't have a great deal to spend on ourselves, at least at first. But reading your diary has reminded me that making memories together is just as important as getting the house up to scratch, so I'm going to spend some time working out some nice, affordable lilies for us :D

Also love the recipes, I agree with BBC Good Food being great for that kind of thing, I've been pinning lots of them to Pinterest recently.

Keep up the good work (don't worry about the wedding, they make everyone a bit funny) and I look forward to reading about more lilies in the future!

Baked risotto is my very favourite kind - so quick and easy. Dehlia does a fabulous tiger prawn risotto which is also baked. A bit pricey though so I don't make it often. Pudding rice is a good MS tip :)

May have to add a risotto to the meal plan for next week now.

Thank you Beanie. I really enjoyed painting it - made me smile every time I looked at their cute faces.

    Hello BB :hello:

welcome to the party. How lovely to be added to your reading list. I am on the hunt for more affordable lilies now too, as wanting to bolster the savings a bit, so will look forward to hearing your ideas.

I don't think I could cope if BBC G00d F00d ever left me :rotfl:

Over the wedding now but it has brought on a big think.

    Keep in touch

  • Recent events have brought on a big think and, as Mr F is away at a 4x4 thingy from this evening, I got out my coaching tools and made a plan.

There will be some changes as a result. The biggest of which is a potential house move. Some things have happened in the local area which put us in a good position to sell but we only have a window of a couple of years. Mr F works from home (well theoretically) so we can go wherever we choose. He loves Shropshire. I've never been there  but it seems to fit in terms of the quiet rural life we prefer.

So, as of today, I'll be channeling our savings into the house move fund (farewell en-suite fund it was good knowing you for all of five minutes :rotfl:) and there'll have to be some serious decluttering in the Fortunate household.

I'm also not prepared to take any more unkindness from people so will only be spending my time with true friends. Good people who want the best for me and I for them. So there's going to be some upset coming :p

Health is on the agenda too. We are in general good health but want to keep it that way and neither of us is getting enough exercise.

I will give up the part time job at some stage but it makes sense to carry on until the start of the next season. Things will start to quiet down over the winter and some planned building work may mean I'm not needed for a while so I might as well stay on the books and benefit from my discounts in the meantime.

    Time for a change...

although maybe not this month. We took ourselves off to J0hn L £wi% last night and came home with a new TV. Within the planned budget but it doesn't work with our ancient DVD player so we need a new one of those now. Sigh.
