I am coming up against the most appalling service from BT :(

I have some neighbours who are very elderly and in poor health. Mrs Neighbour arrived on my doorstep this afternoon having walked to me from her house. She was stressed and very breathless. We are rural here so she had an uphill walk to get to me and has a serious heart condition.

They have few relatives and most live abroad. They have nobody local. They do not own a mobile phone or a computer.

Mrs Neighbour was upset as she had just received a letter of concern from an overseas relative. Overseas relative had been trying to telephone but getting number not known responses. On querying this with BT, Overseas relative was told the account had been close. The worst had been assumed.

Neighbours had not closed their account and had received only yesterday 3 separately posted copies (?) of their most recent bill from BT. They pay by direct debit and the account was in funds.

I telephoned the contact number from BT and got through to a lady who confirmed the account had been closed. She transferred me to another team who she said would be able to help. 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES LATER I WAS STILL ON HOLD!

During that time I used the on-line chat facility to contact someone in the call centre. They could not help. Despite my pleading that this was an urgent case.

We have now taken an upset and unwell Mrs Neighbour home as she cannot leave Mr Neighbour alone. She is struggling to breath and is very worried.

I AM VERY WORRIED. I fear she may need a doctor or an ambulance and will have no way of contacting anyone for help.

I've tried Facebook as well. I can't get through to anyone.

Does anyone know if there is a BT rep on the Forum. Mr F and I will be dropping by to make sure they are ok but what if they need something in the night.

    So appalled by BT.

BT are the pits these days.
You need to escalate to high level complaints and or chairman's office.
    Dire.Just dire. :(

Someone has given me, what I think is, the correct email for the Chairman so I've sent of a complaint.

Feel so sorry for aged neighbours. They get so stressed about stuff like this.

Well the day didn't go quite to plan but pleased I could be of some help to aged neighbours.

I did manage a quick tidy up and some good home cooking:
    • Mushroom Fajitas for lunch to use up some tortillas and guacomole
    • Salmon, Artichoke and Potato Pesto Traybake for supper except I exchanged the artichokes for fresh broccoli. I don't like artichokes - they taste like cold cabbage
    • Cherry Clafoutis for pudding to use up the last of the cherries. First time I've made Clafoutis. So easy, will definately be making again

DS1 has organised a meeting with the bank to set up a savings account for a house deposit so I'll need to transfer some money to him this week. Will probably raid the en-suite fund so we can give them a big chunk to get them started.

Feeling a little under the weather today - hoping it's just tiredness and not the start of Mr F's lurgy.

    Take care

That's terrible regarding BT fortune. Most large organisations e mail addresses are firstname.lastname@organisation.com so you could always try this if not. Only becomes a pain if they have a name that can be abbreviated ie Dave rather than David.

Hope you get it sorted. If not, is there anyone who has an old mobile that you could put a free SIM card in and just say programme your number in for now just in case of emergencies. Doesn't have to be fancy.

How lovely that they have someone so lovely like you and mr F to look out for them, although I get its a worry for you.

Thanks for the support PF. Aged neighbours should be re-connected this morning. In the meantime, their overseas relatives have been very worried and I arrived at the house one morning to find the Police there. What a shock that was  but they were just checking everything was ok.

It's all because people were careless and lazy BT's end. Once they are back on line I'm going to try and get some compensation for them - they have a lot of overseas calls to make now to reassure people.

I'm not getting much done this week because Mr F shared his horrid bug with me

It's not a bad one actually but it is wiping me out a bit. I've done a couple of evenings work and a bit of ironing but not much else. No painting :( Didn't feel I was in the right frame of mind.

I'm home all day today so will concentrate on getting Mr F ready for his trip tomorrow and perhaps paint this afternoon if I feel ok.

Our savings are looking decidedly depleted as we've now transferred the majority of the wedding money and a first contribution to the house deposit. I did have to raid the en-suite fund for the latter but will be channeling any spare bits and bobs in to that now as our regular monthly contributions to the house deposit will be smaller.

Still wondering whether to continue with the part-time job. Am going to crunch some numbers now and come to a decision.

Hey fortune hope you're feeling better. Still working way through the last of your diary about 10 pages from 40-49 left to go. Don't ask me why I haven't read it all in chronological order, but by the time I realised it was too late. Did forget at times that I was reading in the past and went to comment and then realised it was 'gone'

*like the time your pyjamas fell down and I laughed out loud
*when you expressed your hate for celery - couldn't agree more - no useful purpose on this planet :rotfl:
*git excited when I found out you were a coach and MBTI - I too am a business coach and MBTI qualified :D not that I get to do any MBTI stuff in current role, which is a shame as I find it really interesting
    * when you were buying at TD and I was going to say we have B0sch and they're all good much better than N3ff we had integrated in out old house

At least I'm reading the end bit too so I can comment in real time too. Hope you feel well enough for a glass of grape juice tonight :)
