I managed to pour boiling water over my hand last night  Fortunately, a quick thinking Mr F put me under some cold running water for 5 minutes. No lasting damage thank goodness. So that was the second ouch.
The first involved spending money. I went into town with Across-the-lane-neighbour:- I paid for parking as she drove - £2
- all the usual coffee, cake and lunch costs - £13.50
- found some curtains for the guest bedroom in Dunh£lm Mill. £34.99 :T My budget was significantly more than this so I'll be able to get some of the other household things on my list this month
- took the portrait into the framers - £39.30
- picked up my new glasses... well one pair, the other turned out to have a scratch on the lens so will have to go back. I can see!!!
- Waitr0$£ delivered this morning - £9.54 under budget
- still making regular Tillytidies, feeding Mr Marmite and cooking from scratch.
Here comes the rain again

I'd like to move to wherever SkintBO lives. It's grey, raining and windy here
Ouch indeed re your hand. Fortunately you have one of your new pairs of glasses so hopefully it won't be repeated
Take the day off.
Re my creativity, I'd say 30% of my recipes I make up, so yes, creative in that way, but give me a craft to do and I become some ham fisted nutter :rotfl:

Same at work and at home
 to hand, hope it's less painful xA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Love the portrait - and especially how well you captured the expressions and that sparkle in the eyes. Beautiful
Hope your hand gets better soon and doesn't stop you painting/cooking for too long. I remember when I poured a pot of boiling water all over my toes instead of into the colander in the sink - oops!
Happy Sunday x0 -
Thank you everyone - I got away very lightly with the hand. It was just like a bad case of sunburn and the pain only lasted a day. It's at the dry, itchy stage now which is irritating but at least it shows it's healing.
The weekend has been lovely despite the continued gloom:- went into London to meet up with some friends on Saturday - £15.00 train fare, £20.05 for lunch (50% off deal). Costs met from personal spends
- dinner and rugby at Across-the-lane-neighbours in the evening. Took a bottle of wine from the rack and beer for Mr F. Didn't have time to make anything so picked up some macaroons and crisps to take on the way back from London. Costs met from the entertainment budget
- made Penny Soup for lunch today and we had One-pan Spanish Fish Stew from the freezer for supper
- Mr F put up the guest room curtain pole so I could hang my bargain curtains. The fabric's not brilliant quality but you wouldn't know - they look great. I saved so much from the budget that I was able to get lots of other things on my home improvement wish list...
- put up new light shade in the study (Mr F had a strong, personal dislike of the old one for some reason). Moved study light shade to landing. Moved landing light shade to garden :rotfl:Not as strange as it seems - the landing light shade was in the shape of a shabby chic bird cage and I think it would look great as a garden feature with plants climbing through it
- swopped old, 70s, brown, broken over-door hanger in the guest room for shiny new white and chrome one
- washed and dried new dark grey towels and hung them on the rack in the bathroom
- ordered some replacement kitchenware
- confirmed delivery date for 2 M&S bedside tables for the guest room
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend

I came across this saying in a post by Edinburgher yesterday. It really resonated with me so I made a note of it. Today it has proven to be true.
Remember the job that Mr F was headhunted for recently -the other candidate was offered the job. Well the other candidate hasn't worked out and they have come back to Mr F with an offer! He has accepted and will be handing in his notice tomorrow.
I am absolutely made up for him. It's a role he has been aspiring to for a while and it doesn't come up very often. He works very hard and really deserves it.
It will mean a little more money so we will be able to grow our savings and finish the house a bit faster. It's also based at home which will be ideal if we do move later on.
I hope this is the start of a trend and others waiting for job news will get some good luck soon.
I can feel a celebratory weekend coming on :j
