Have they tried a babywearing wrap? There are days it's the only way my little girl will finally give in and go to sleep when she's fighting it - something like a moby or the cheaper version from victoria slinglady... there's a bit of a learning curve with them but I find that if I wrap her it'll send her into a deeper level of sleep than she'll ever get with things like taking her for a drive in the car or a push in a pushchair.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

My youngest DD is two. She sleeps very poorly, finding it especially hard to go to sleep. We tried many things with her night time environment, routines in the lead up to bedtime, reading stories, a CD of gently falling rain, none of it worked.
Then, at my wits end, I tried playing a CD called Premiers Symptômes by French electonic musicians Air. It's peaceful, lulling and rather lovely.
I press 3x repeat, playing it at a very low volume, and she drifts off peacefully, and (yea!) stays asleep all night.
I should add that my disc is the pre-1998 release, the later releases have two noisey tracks tagged on to the end. If anyone uses that disc, just programme in the first five tracks how ever many times you require.
ETA: It's whatever you find that works! Just keep on experimenting.0 -

Works a treat for us. He stops whatever he's doing and calms down. Bliss
Someone recommended this one to us:

but I suspect it was more for our benefit! If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0 -
I tended to find with my baby that you have to 'burp' them for longer than you expect.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I absolutely second white noise - it worked a treat for my son. There are now lots of versions on you tube, so you might need to experiment and you can download some from iTunes.Signature removed for peace of mind0

At 2 weeks old, I accepted that baby was up every 2 hours or so for a breastfeed. By 6 weeks old baby (well in fact both babies of mine) was sleeping through from 11-7ish. Nothing needed apart from regular b/f in the early days, building up to a routine by 6wks ish.0
