arrggg why didn't we think of that, she's already bought the stuff she wants to send!

May be the one she already bought can be left with you (and can be used to gift someone else) and trying the same item getting delivered to US from any other site??? Many times the gift options are also avilable when you buy the product...;)

    Hope that makes sense!

some of the stuff she wants to send isn't available in the US because of their food laws (kinder eggs for one, she's checked it ok to send as a gift though) so I doubt a retailer will send it out there.

Double check on the kinder eggs...I have a sneaky suspicion they're not even allowed to be sent in as gifts. Could well be wrong, of course, but US authorities can be funny about stuff like that!

I remember travelling to the States and having a big bar of Cadbury's in my suitcase as a gift for friends...had gotten into the US fine with it, but it was confiscated from my hold luggage during an internal flight? No reason was given.

But yeah...as I said, they're very funny about stuff like this...and I also have friends in USA who I regularly send chocolates/sweets out to, and I have to think about what I send/how much it weighs, etc...normally I just suck up the extortionate charge from Royal Mail, but the idea of buying from Amazon is a great one :D

Out of interest, why are Kinder Eggs banned in the US? The little toys inside them?

There's some stuff on Wikipedia about it, it does sound crazy but actually makes sense if you think about it. Encouraging children to eat unhealthy food by bribing them with a toy isn't the best idea, just a shame they never kept it going with MacDonald's and the like giving away toys with food.
