You've been told to ignore several times by respected posters...and you're still chuntering on.

Have you read the replies to your original post???

Have yopu read any other threads on here???

Have you read the stickies at the top of this board???

Do the above, and then if you're still worried I suggest you pay up, as nothing will stop you worrying.

    HTH

Isn't it about time you showed a bit more respect to some of the posters on here? Not everyone can take these things in their stride yet you still come on here making your offensive comments such as the one made in the first line of your post above.

If the number of people posting on here about what to do is stressing you out maybe its time you took a chill pill. Either way, cut out the negative comments.

It's an impersonation of authority bunny boiler scam.
It works by putting the frighteners on the weak.
If they could take you to court and win, they would not be messing about with letter after letter after letter after letter.

Even if they did, which they wont take you to court, its not a criminal court, its a small room with a judge and you and them where they have to prove they have a legal right to charge you an unlawful penalty.
The chances of that are millions to one, as it is illegal to charge contractual penalties.

For the record I wasn't being rude, I was just explaining why i had posted again because i needed some added reassurance since the type of letter i am receiving now appears to be a bit more threatening. I signed the post thanking them for their reply and in no way was it rude and I'm sorry you have been offended by my response.

    fliss.

Be British about this. Stiff upper lip, cuppa tea, digestive biccy and tell your friends in a slightly outraged voice how awful these scammer chappies are. That should help.

Hi Flissg84, Trebor16 wasn't aiming that at you. Quite the opposite!

Most of us understand that you are concerned as this is probably the first exposure you have had to this scam, and are only just finding out about the way it works.

There have been a few posts recently about this new firm Gladstones which have only recently become involved in this 'game'. However their newness to all this doesn't mean that the tickets have suddenly become lawful overnight, it just means they are new, and their letters will be documented in time.

The legal truth is that you do not owe these people a single penny, and if it came to court (as Vax says, a small claims court, not a big formal one like you see on the telly) it would get laughed out within five minutes.

These companies know this, which is why they are unlikely to try it - the negative publicity of losing in court would scupper their scheme, and be damaging for them in terms of lowering the number of people who actually just pay up blindly without researching the legality of it. So they will simply stick to scaring you as much as they can in the hope that you pay up without calling their bluff - and it IS a bluff!

Please do not pay them, and simply ignore the letters (feel free to come back here for reassurance at any time), and do not reply or contact them.
    Je Suis Cecil.

If you are genuinely worried, you could ask your family solicitor to send them a final warning of undertaking for harassment.
These letters are type by spotty kids and the solicitors names are often just a franchise payment scheme to obtain a letterhead.
A swift letter from a real solicitor issuing a final warning of undertaking to refrain from harassment of a pregnant woman should shut them up.
If not see if the solicitor fancies some easy money , by suing them and going halves with you.
Should be worth 5 or 6 thousand in harassment damages.

Its run of the mill to receive letters threatening court action, however the chances of it happening is minuscule.
Read the letter through it bet it has a few "May" "Could" or "Consider" 's in there?

    Hello Fliss,

My response was not directed at you but at Oopsadaisy, who has shown a total lack of patience and respect towards new posters who are taken in by the impersonation of authority scam. Your response was not rude and I am not offended by it in any way.
