The complaints form arrived so am filling that in 2mor, haven't had chance to speak to the dentist, left a message with the reception about the saga.
In all honeslty re my surgery, its the final nail in the coffin, and were moving surgeries, one of the questions will be about the toothpaste and c where we go from there,
The new sutgerym the NHS walk in centre, the 1st time I used it I thought I was having a weird asthma attack, it wasn't it was an aphaylsix shock, and if it hadn't been for the reception lady saying u don't look right, she got the nyrse, who got the doc, then all hell broke loose, all i rememeber was apologising for queue jumping, - apparently I was a airs breath from not being here, 99% of the medical population are brilliant, just the 1% that bring it down, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Your daughter is lucky to have a mum who isn't prepared to sit back and let these things lie. You're doing the right thing. xx0 -
The dentist should be prescribing it for any patient that they feel needs it. Dental issues are nothing to do with your GP....they will neither want it coming out their primary care budget (it stops another patient in that practice maybe getting another essential drug for their condition) and also they are not legally covered to issue any medication related to a dental issue.
They shouldnt have shouted at you but politely asked you to speak to your dentist again....0 -

This depends entirely who your dentist is. Only an NHS dentist can issue you with an NHS prescription. If your dentist charges for their services even by a dental plan they will only be able to issue a private prescription.0 -
I'm an NHS dentist, we going to see what happens with this complaints letter, all I want is an apology, and then be happy. Guess were have to wait and see. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

Sounds as though she was very rude at the least. Whatever the ins and outs of it, she had no reason to be so obnoxious to a patient
I have similar problems as I have specialist dietary needs, being Coeliac, so I get some items - mainly bread - on prescription. Without it I could not afford to stick to the diet that they require. It's a nightmare getting the repeats as my surgery only does four weeks' worth of repeats of anything so I am back and forth getting repeat prescriptions every couple of weeks as it takes so long for the specialist items to come through0 -
When your dentist prescribes Duraphat, how many tubes does he give you on the prescription? Mine gives me 3, which is just about sufficient to last 6 months until the next appointment.Stompa0

In all honesty if you have little faith in your surgery I think you should change. I did it myself about 2 years ago. I felt every time I saw my GP I was fobbed off (I'd been having joint problems for many years for which I was always given a prescription for Ibuprofen!!)
Within 6 months of changing my new GP had diagnosed me with Ehlers Danlos Type III Hypermobility, I was on a new course of tablets and I feel better than I have done in years.
For me it was the best move I ever made. I've gone from having to wait a week to even see a GP to being able to call at 8am and get an appointment.0 -

My GP usually gives me 2 tubes at a time, when the dentist did DD he did just 1 tube, but if I have to get him to prescribe then I'll ask for 3 tubes.
Thank you thou, it sounds daft but I never realised how long they last me as I always have couple of tubes in hand, xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Sounds like the change was the best thing u did, we've had niggles before, but due to other circumstances we couldn't change GPs, as it would have gone against us, so it was a case of grin and bear it. We've ordered a repeat prescreption (covers us throu the change), drop new papers off Thurs, dropped the complaint off by hand so they can't deny they haven't got it. Sounds daft miss couple of the GPs, theyve been really supportive, I've been same surgery since birth, and our registed GP we've been his patient for 5 yrs. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
