Most channels, least price?

When we move to Norfolk in October, I'll be cancelling our Sky package as we won't be able to afford it, at least to begin with. My husband wants me to get it once we've got the money for it as he really would like to watch his WWE on Sky Sports 3 and be able to listen to UCB (Christian radio station). I'd like to be able to watch documentaries and the medical programs most of which are on National Geographic, History Channel, Discovery Home or Discovery Home & Health.

I don't mind getting the documentaries and medical programs through an on demand rather than scheduled service, the former would be better in some ways.

For UCB, I'm hoping to be able to get a DAB radio but as a temporary measure, I'll show my husband how to listen to it via UCB's website. I might drop hints to my parents to get us DAB radio for Christmas.

Thanks to anyone who can give a solution which won't involve the £5? that Sky will cost.

The only channels that broadcast SS 3 & 4 are $ky and Virgin.

You could try BT Vision at only £12.50 a mth, but it's only limited access to the programs you want (BT broadband and phone is also required).

Thanks for that VisionMan. You've confirmed what I was thinking about WWE. How limited is BT vision for access to documentaries? I don't mind having to wait a month after original broadcast to see the programs.

Next question, could you give me the link to website which gives the full list of channels that will be on Freeview after September when more are being added?

Virgin isn't available in the town we're moving to.

Probably wishful thinking but I'm hoping that onnce we're over, my husband won't miss the WWE too much or he'll find something else.

Freesat is your other option for subscription-free TV,
Don't bother with BTV-it's just Freeview with some limited on-demand content. And it ties you in to BT's overpriced broadband product.

What channels do you get on Freesat that aren't on Freeview? I do have a lovefilm subscription, the package that's £10.20 month. How much does it cost to get Freesat set up?

The channel listings are all on the respective websites.
Freesat requires a minidish, LNB and cabling, exactly the same as Sky. With a twin feed if you want to use a Freesat box with PVR functions.
Typically around £100 for the dish and install, then add the cost of your preferred box to that.
If the property has a Sky dish already installed, then the box will be the only cost.

Thanks, will check all the options to see what the best one is. To start with we'll be using Freeview.

Then your best option is a Freeview PVR from Humax, either the SD or HD versions dependng on what you want.
Bear in mind that if you are on a relay station rather than a main transmitter then you will not get all the Freeview channels.

Thanks for that, how much are the pvr boxes? Might have to save for one. How do I find out if signal is from main transmitter or relay station?

Depends on the model and platform. Start at about £110 up for the Humax 9300T if you want a refurbed one from Humax Direct.
Put your postcode into the checker on the UK Digital site, or look at the direction of the aerial.

Thanks for that. Think the mast which covers the town we're moving to is Tacolneston (sp?). If signal is from relay station how much would it cost for a system that would allow me to get all the Freeview channels?
