I posted this in the newborn thread, but maybe some of you are looking for similar things.
I was shopping at Amazon and bought a travel crib/cot for the living room using the £10 discount offer for joining the family club, so it went down just below £40. We thought about buying a second moses, but once we got the stand for it, it was almost the same price. It's a small one, moses size, but it has the "basinette "/crib on top, which you can remove later on to get a small cot.
This is the link, Graco travel basinette /cot.

Once she outgrows it, it will be used to store the toys or something like that. It's as long as a moses or even a few cm smaller, just slightly wider and about the same height with stand.

I also bought an abdominal support wrap from a medical place in London that sells them for post-surgery, post c-section and post-delivery. I was getting some pain in one of the sides, which the mw said it was muscular. I read about risks of having a hernia if the muscle gets overworked before it goes back to place, so I decided to buy one. Plus apparently helps to reduce the belly and get the womb back into place. The marketing for belly wraps say that belly wrapping is common practice in many cultures and that it just helps to keep the skin and muscles in the right place whilst everything shrinks back. However, I bought it from a medical place because I'm a bit more concerned with having a good back support and get that muscle into the right position. I'm supposed to wear it for.a few weeks, I'll let you know if it works.

Congrats to all the new mummies!!!! :)

Morning everyone. Hope you're all well...? Lozzy, good luck and congrats if baby is already here :)

Things haven't gone as smoothly as I hoped. Not long after birth we were transferred to a larger hospital. The little man is in ICU. Won't go into too much detail but he's no where near as serious as the other babies and seems to be on the up. I have a room to myself and am keeping busy expressing. They are storing it until he can feed :)

Gonna go see him now and how his night was. Love you all ladies x
  • Bamanma - sorry to hear about babs I hope he gets well soon xxx you stay strong xxxx

If Anyone is thinking of breast feeding here are a few things I wish I'd known about the first few days before the milk comes in...even if the position is right it can be a toe curling pain for about 30 seconds before it eases off. I thought because it hurt the position was wrong so got quite stressed trying to re position the baby when she was absolutely fine. Babies also cluster feed to try and get the proper milk to come in - on night three the baby fed for about 5 hours almost solidly & I was in total despair thinking she would be like that every night - luckily it was a one off!! Also, take some lansinoh into hospital and use it before your nipples start getting sore it really helps to protect them. Finally the Medela swing pump is great - really glad I bought it.!

Hope all you bolides are doing well :)!

I'm not having luck with breastfeeding but I agree on the pump, Medela swing is really good, pain free, easy and not very noisy at all. Even if I do not manage to increase my milk, I feel it was a good purchase, it relieved the pain on day 4th when the milk was coming and my LO was too exhausted to continue sucking (I produce milk, just veeeeery slowly, so she had to suck for ages to get very little). Had I known that I was going to have problems with milk production, I'd have expressed every day after giving her the colostrum, just to make sure I'd increase the production. :(

afternoon all. god this thread has been very quiet.. the group on facebook is buzzing. :) bamama hope all is well sweety. we are thinking of you and bubs.xx
marta thanks for the link. it seems very reasonable to get that actually. i have joined that family club as well and have got nice stuff online.

well i am still here waiting. i went to bed with a weird belly ache and it was weird, as it didnt feel like period cramps, nor did it feel like dodgy belly but like a burning feeling and i was up at 6 and then had to go for a poo (sorry tmi) then i just sat up in bed and waited and i feel asleep. am better now and had some toast and tea and woke up late. lovely dh brought me some toast and juice in bed. i feel tired. bubs moved after breakfast so it was nice.. now i will wait and see. go see the GP tomorrow and ask for a sweep. eww thought only midwives gave you that, or do you think he will send me tothe hospital? i hope so as now hopefully his normal checks of bp etc should stop and he should get on with telling me hw to get bubs out.

Nice to see Marta&MP:j Thanks for the advice.
MArta how much did that belly wrap cost you ? My mum gave me one when i went to Argentina in January and yep, they work.. she has 4 children, and a very flat stomach, no loose skin at all. All her sisters are the same, so she gave one to me, she tried when DD1 was born and i refused with the whole crap that everything will go back alone, it took years for my tummy to feel like before pregnancy.

Bamama, i hope ur little one is at home with you very soon, sending u lots of love.

    Rups... Exciting !!;)

Went to see the MW, today 34+6 and my tummy is measuring 32 cm. At 31 wks she was measuring 30. She did not seem concerned but said that this baby started off being big baby and in the last weeks shift to a medium size, so gave me an app in two weeks time to see if she keeps growing fine otherwise i will have a growth scan.

Hi ladies just a quuick up date as time management isn't my strong point, I rang the hospital at 12.30 lunch time yesterday, told them about my contractions they, told me to go to the assessment unit to get checked over and see if am starting to dilate yet, by the time we dropped the kids off and arrived at they unit it was just after 1.30 pm I was left in a room till 2pm while the midwife read my notes.

Then she checked me over and she said I was 6 cm dilated but can stretch to 8 with ease ( lol I have never heard of this before) so, we, were taken to the labour suite, she gave me gas and air, I bloody love the stuff, then at 3.36pm little freddy/joshua lol we are Still not sure in his named was born weighing a decent 7lb 12ozs, my blood pressure has been a bit high for the last month so i was kept in over night and was finally discharged today at about 2pm as I was waiting for they doctor to do her rounds,

Also I didn't need stitches and weeing wasn't too bad at all afterwards :rotfl:

Have had a look back bamama, am sorry you and lo are Still in hospital, I hope they give him they all clear soon, also could anyone please tell me how to post a pic

    Any more pain rups?
