The figures look wrong to me as well.

As you ported out on the 28th having got your PAC the day before, they are entitled to charge you for to following 29 days which amounts to £7.47 (29 days=£12.75-£5.28=£7.47)

Unless you've gone over your allowances, I can't see where they've got £24.63 from and I suspect they're trying it on.

Is the £13.19 line rental figure inclusive of VAT?
  • I had the same argument with them and in spite of me asking numerous times where in the T&C it stated that they could charge this, they couldn't answer. In fact, I think it is in section 1 that it states that if the minimum term of the contract is up (I had just completed month 18 of an 18 month contract, so my minimum term was up) there will be no further charges, or words to that effect.

In the end, I copied in the MD's office (there's an email somewhere on the internet, but I can't find it now) and they refunded it as a "goodwill gesture." Mine wasn't a big amount either, but I kept at them on the grounds of principle and that they were talking complete !!!!!!!!.

In order to fully help we'll need more info from that bill and the one before it to get an idea of how a full bill appears. Ideally a breakdown of monthly line rental, any discounts (recurring) and additional usage charges. We also need to know if VAT is included or on top of charges and the exact dates each billing period is for. It'll be easier with that info.
  • Thanks for the reply, all!

    £13.19 is VAT inclusive.

Here's the breakdown from the website (May's bill - June is the same):

    100Mins&100Text(SIM1)10 £8.82
Internet Booster (FB) for 11/4/12 to 10/5/12 Free
    Unlimited Text Booster £4.25
    £2.50 MRCD SIMO for 11/5/12 to 10/6/12 - £2.08
    Monthly charge total £10.99

Right your 30 day notice charge should be a maximum of £10.58 (VAT included). The £4.25 unlimited text bundle is not your tariff its more of an addon and should not have been included in the cost either. The charge is definately wrong. Escalate over the phone to a manager. Chances are a manager won't put up much of a fight over 10ish pounds and if the shoe was on the other foot they'd do the most they could to recoup £10 if you owed them.
  • I'll try again later. I think I've called T-Mobile four or five times now, and each time I give up after being on hold for ten minutes.
  • Just had a call from them.

The lady from TMobile tried explaining that the charge was incurred because I ported my number. I said that nowhere in the terms and conditions does it state that I will be charged for any such thing. And if I was being charged for porting my number, why was it called a Period Notice Charge on my final bill?

She asked if I would like the relevant section in the terms and conditions to check this myself, and I said 'yes please'. After a couple of minutes on hold, she then came back and told me that she'd need more time to find the section, but I could expect a call back before the end of the day.

    So we shall see...

    Did they call back?
  • Nope.

Obviously trying to bullsh*t me into accepting the charge wasn't working, so she did the old "I'm going to hang up now, but we'll call you back later. Promise!"

I'm beginning to think that nobody there knows what the hell they're talking about.

Keep on at them, they're hoping you lose interest so they don't have to refund the money.

I wonder how many people have simply paid T-Mobiles notice period charge? They must be making a killing.
