I want to book an holiday to ANYWHERE 4 hrs tops from England with a nice hotel/apt, beach withing 200m, for me, hubby and 2 kids 10 & 11. I only want to spend at the VERY most £2300. It can be either SC, HB or AI. Whatever.
BUT... when I look at the deals on Travelsupermarket.com and see that the flights are with either Ryanair or Monarch it SCARES:eek: me. We've never flown buget airline before. I remember reading that you have to print you boarding passes for your return journey on Ryanair the day before or the day you are returning. I mean, how hell are you supposed to do that? My mobile's retro. We don't have a laptop. How do people do this?
Really, what it boils down to is - is there a list or forum that could help me book a budget airline holiday? If not, we'll just have to book via Thomson which is all I feel I can cope with!:rotfl:

Are you sure? Last time I flew Ryanair I printed the return boarding pass before I went - we only went for 4 days but I'm fairly sure they allowed you to print them 15 days before? Things may have changed...sure someone else will be along soon to confirm.
In any case - the hotel you're staying at would probably have internet PCs you can use - check with them (and that they have printers!), or ask if there are any internet cafes locally (bound to be in a touristy place).0 -
We've booked a holiday through Easyjet this year, in total it cost £800 for 4 of us self catering. Just had a look today and they're still really decently priced for this summer. I've done package and Easyjet in the past and in all honesty can't really tell any difference between the 2. You can get Easyjet to package the whole holiday for you also if it gives you peace of mind. With package holidays you're paying a supplement for people to put everything together for you i.e flights, accommodation, catering, transfers etc and it can work out much cheaper letting someone like Easyjet or Jet2 to do that for you instead and their deposits are much better than the main tour operator.0

No this is not the case, Don't be scared, Ryanair are one of the most reliable airlines around.0 -
You have a decent budget. I have recently booked a holiday for two adults and one child (12). It is Half board, beach nearby, nice big pool and that only cost £1200. And that included all taxes, baggage, transfers and insurance. I booked with lowcostholidays.com and did everything with them. It may have been cheaper to book things separately but we just wanted to have it all booked.
We are going to Salou. I have been a couple of times before and would recommend it. It has something for everyone. Your kids would be the right age for the theme park, there are two water parks and all the other touristy stuff too.
I have been on budget airlines before. I'm not a frequent traveler and was a little nervous I hadn't done the boarding passes right the first time but it is really straightforward. You can print both boarding passes at the same time, usually from 15 days before departure to 4 hours before your flight.
Have a great holiday!0 -
Thank you so much for your replies everyone:D.
I'm going to check out lowcostholidays.com.:j I hope my comment helps :T0 -

You get 15 days because most peoples holidays are for a max of 14 days, meaning you can print the outbound and inbound from home before you leave.
And you can't forget, I get emails almost daily reminding me to check in for a flight in a few days.0 -
also check out travelrepublic if you do book with ryanair as they do cheap hotels (i was looking for late September for Greece and it was 185 each for a week, self catering though but after being at some half board hotels i'd rather go self catering and choose different places to eat). Also I think you don't pay the card charge if you book through them? But you can print it off 15 days before upto 4 hours before your flight and they do e-mail to remind you to print it off.
The only thing annoying about Ryanair is that flaming tune to tell you you have landed ontime!:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

If your worried, Monarch and Ryanair are very different. Monarch are much more like a 'normal' airline, you get big luggage allowances, check in at the desk at the airport, don't have to print anything in advance and its easier than Thomson which is often horribly overcrowded and huge checking queues at peak times. I only fly Monarch if I can as its the least hassle airline!0 -
Really no need to be worried as others have said just print off your inbound/outbound boarding passes at the same time. worse case you could pay the extra £40 for priority boarding so your not caught up in the general scrum for seats, altho we have never found it an issue0
