I think you have to pass the dreaded proof reading thing to be a 5* that's what I was told. So I can safely say I won't be bothering any of the 5* writers cos I failed miserably! It was tough :(

    That's right you do, Sarah.

It was one of the most bizarre proof reading tests I have ever done. I have to wait another two months to pass that now, but I did pass it many moons ago and was a 5 writer for a while, as I dropped off and did fewer, then I got downgraded. I became a little shabby with my work.

But, I shall try again in the New Year.

Have your guides been passed yet?
  • I have now submitted 4 articles and have had 3 approved. I read somewhere that once you have submitted 5 you cannot write any more until they check your account? Is this correct?

    HI tyrone,

Yes it is true. Your account will be locked once your first five articles have been submitted.

That said, if you pop a short email over to support, they will ensure that your work is reviewed quickly. The support for authors is large. The authors are the ones who keep the clients coming back. Don't be afraid to chase support up. My account was released within 48 hours.

They are slow on rating though.

I've got 2 outstanding... Ones that I had to amend. I'll be relieved when they come through, more spending money for Christmas. Wow congratulations on passing that test though... :T

I looked at the proof reading test, but didn't clock anything bizarre or overtly difficult about it.....

I found it bizarre in that it looked to me like a non-native English speaker had set the questions and then translated to English. I scored 80% this time around. What I find odd, is that there is no feedback from the test and therefore, a writer will never know where they went wrong. But that's the nature of the beast I suppose.

I shall give it another go in a couple of months. Fall down seven times, get up eight and all that.

Oooh, well done Sarah, on the outstanding. Mine have all gone through, but have no rating as of yet, in fact I have 80 articles awaiting rating by Textbroker which determines star rating, despite what the client rates you. It is work and they are good payers so am not going to sniff at my options. Avoids a long commute, brings in the cash and I can write in my pyjamas. What's not to like?

Luggage is the order of the day and after a quiet day yesterday, there is plenty of work at the moment.

Did you take the test as well as looking at it?
  • Yeah totally sommer, I'd prefer more security but...working in my comfys, kids happy cos I'm here all the time, doing something I enjoy, I'm happy :)

No, I hadn't even picked up my first article at that stage, so that went on the 'come back to it later' pile....

I was going to ask about the proofreading. I took the test, passed it, but there's never any work there. I thought only professional writers could be rated 5*? Like Sommer ;) you should ask them to upgrade you!
