Goodbye Mortgage - the beginning of the end!

£215 OPd. Won't be adding any more for August as we're so behind on the savings target. Quite happy with that though.
1p razor has arrived - subscription is cancelled. Wish I'd have ordered more now, it seems quite a decent one.
£co cashback has come through and been added into the pot, there is more waiting to come through.
Making Leek & Potato soup today, also need to cut the grass, work my way through the mountain of ironing/laundry and tidy up the house.
I have also discovered excel. My spreadsheets aren't all that advanced yet, but I'm very impressed with it so far!
I need to OP just over £157 each month until the end of the year to meet our target. Fingers crossed we will beat it for the first time ever!0 -
Hi Beckyy, well done in the op :T I really need to learn about excel spreadsheets, dh does ours for our monthly spends and budgets but I'm sure there are much more exciting things that can be done with them

There was a king of shaves voucher code in the MSE newsletter which, when you sign up to a subscription, give you a razor and set of blades for 1p. Almost didn't use it but it worked out ell, will keep an eye out for more like it!
My spreadsheets are probably primary school level just now but I'm quite chuffed with them, I just need to keep at it and I'm sure I'll have pages of formula and budgets
Leek and potato soup is bubbling away and the housework is (slowly) getting done!0 -
It feels like a day for soup today, I might have a rummage to see if I can find something to throw in my soup maker
Well done on the housework, I'm doing my meal plan and shopping list surrounded by mess!

We managed to end up with 2 home insurance policies. I'd totally forgotten our renewal had gone through and then took out a separate policy thinking I'd forgotten about it - definitely proof the filing cabinet I've just ordered is very much needed.
Tomorrow I need to phone up and cancel one of the policies, and suck of the cancellation fee - a silly, and expensive, lesson learnt!:o:o

Called and cancelled the newer policy, they have refunded the remaining policy, and have asked for proof of the dual insurance to posted to them upon receive of which they should refund the rest. Relieved that I noticed and it does explain why I thought our bill account was running lower than it should have been!
Looking forward to my filing cabinet arriving now hahaha0 -
Ooooops at least it is getting sorted though!
You just reminded me I need to email my proof of NCD to my new insurer thoughNow a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
I had to do that recently, seems mad that they can't do it electronically now.
My filing cabinet arrived with a dent in the side. I've emailed them asking if they would be willing to give me a 50% refund, as I can live with it, otherwise I'll be returning it for a replacement. I hope they say yes as I'm not sure when I'll be able to wait in for a courier to collect it.
Work is going through a quiet patch at the moment, I don't know when it's going to pick back up and as I'm only contracted for PT hours I might have a few quiet months with no overtime to bring me up to FT pay. Time will tell!

No luck getting a partial refund for the filing cabinet - I have to either return it for a refund or exchange. Opted to exchange, just a pain waiting in for the courier.
Next £co payment is on route. Had a few £ from eBay sales too.
I've added the refund from the home insurance into our savings pot. Despite it coming out of our bills account I re-budgeted this week and we've been paying £35 a month too much into it, so it will counter that from the past few months. If we get the previous months and cancellation fee refunded once they receive proof of dual insurance I'll leave that in the bills account to add to the buffer.0 -
What a day.
Woke up at 6.30am to a message from our tenant to say our BTL had flooded during the night. Dashed round to find the water outside well over knee height, a good 18 inches inside the house too. It drained out over a couple of hours and our tenant has been absolutely fantastic and very pro-active. I can only hope they don't decide to move because of it.
Disaster recovery specialists are due to come in tomorrow to make a start on clearing and drying, and the insurance adjuster is coming at the end of the week to price up the damage and work. Could be up to 3 months to get it sorted, dry and back to 'normal'. So relieved that we have insurance, especially with rent loss cover etc.
You never expect it to happen, even when you hear the flood warnings etc. I feel very lucky that our home was okay. A couple of the neighbouring properties nearby were empty as people were on holiday and they didn't get a warning to move belongings etc. so I could really cry for them. Fingers crossed it's a smooth journey to getting everything recovered, and that our tenant stays at the end of it all.0
