And the 18 month contracts are usually significantly more expensive as the network has to recover the cost of the "free" phone over a shorter period.

You can do an early upgrade as long as you are six months into your contract. Orange deduct a third from your remaining contract costs and you can often pay off all or some of your remaining contract by trading in your phone. It may not be the best deal going, but I was only 6 months into my contract and I traded in my BB 9900 and started fresh with the S3 and didn't pay anything.
you didnt pay anything? wow that was a good deal

Not really, I had an 18 month contract for £22.50 a month with 12 months left to pay - £270 - they deducted a third as part of their early upgrade offer leaving £180, the phone was worth £160 in trade in and Phones4u waived the £20, so it was just like starting afresh.

That being said , if I weren't tied into the Orange contract I could have taken out a cheaper contract elsewhere and got cashback etc.
  • Just logged in to my Orange account online and Im able to take up a 18mth contract for a new Galaxy S3 as long as I pay £49.99 for the phone.

They are offering a 10% discount or magic numbers as a loyalty offer.

    Correct - ignore my post.

I can 100% assure you the person I spoke to yesterday said 18 month contracts were no longer available.. (I didn't just make it up). on that basis I took out a 24 month contract.

Called cancellations today and they said 18 month is available IF you are upgrading, so I've been conned! Get the phone tomorrow but sending it straight back and cancelling the line... I can't decide if the guy I spoke to must of been an idiot or actually just trying to get me to sign up for 24 months?

I'd of been non the wiser had I of not posted in this thread!
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.
