Putting The Boot In To The BPA on Their Turf

Yesterday, there was a one day conference in London called the Parking Review Enforcement Summit 2012.
There were a number of guest speakers, including Patrick Troy of the BPA, the new BPA Head with her "Masterplan", and representatives from APCOA, Parking Eye and other PPCs.
They invited Martin Cutts, of the Plain Language Commission, who was recently featured on BBC Watchdog when he won a court case against Excel, to give a speech.
He was asked to provide an advance copy of the speech, but refused. After he spoke and sat down, you could have heard a pin drop, apparently.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Ooooh - that's good!
I suggest we all email our MPs with that link - drawing particular attention to page 4 where Mr Cutts explains how they deceived Parliament about the number of cases taken to court. If I had a signature, this is where it would go.0 -
Thats one person that is not on the BPA Christmas card list. Brilliant speech which should be sent to the mainstream newspapers, well Sun and Daily Fail at least. A pity that he did not mention the fact that ppc's are not entitled to issue invoices for themselves anyway.
Sent the link to the Mail, incase the BPA forgot to do so.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

When I first got that information from my FOI request, it's been sent to the DVLA, Department for Transport, Transport Minister Norman Baker, and the Regulatory Policy Committee, who oversee government legislation and its implications.
So they should all be well aware of this in the corridors of Westminster.

Yes - but if loads of MPs get hit with it again it can't do any harm. When I first got that information from my FOI request, it's been sent to the DVLA, Department for Transport, Transport Minister Norman Baker, and the Regulatory Policy Committee, who oversee government legislation and its implications.

The BPA told porkies to Parliament - they should be dragged back in to explain themselves. If I had a signature, this is where it would go.0 -
They've already said that they include more than 1 ticket in court cases. It's strange how we missed all these multiple cases. Even at 36,000, the average would be 42.6 tickets per case.
I wonder who invited Martin Cutts to speak? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

It is not perky and hasbeen who need to read it, but your MP who has been lied to in to voting for a law change.
I have forwarded the link to mine, who else has the guts to do the same.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
That is the speech I should like to have given. I can't find enough superlatives to describe it. Thank you Martin.
My local MP now has the link and an explanation.0 -
I have sent a message to my MP about the false information from the BPA. You can find your MP and send a message here http://www.theyworkforyou.com/0
