Mrs L, there was one report which suggested that one carrier was asymptomatic and that suggested that a lot more people may have the virus in a milder form. If that's true then the real mortality rate is much lower.
There is still the risk it could mutate, of course - I'm not trying to say it's nothing to worry aboutIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Helen, I am so respectful of anyone who passes away and their families and will bow my head, remove a hat if I am wearing one, even cross myself if a funeral cortage passes me but I would not be near the event tomorrow and might even turn my back and that's not like me at all. I won't be watching it.
My little protest which is being promoted via Twitter(though no one will know)it is a silent one of wearing something red so even if I am indoors I have a red shirt and I'll pop that on.

I will buying more vitamins soon...have a few spare hand sanitisers purchased from Wilkinsons and used when Mum was here and they are still ok. I think they were on offer at the time and were their own brand."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

More people tend to respond.
"Call 999" is apparently better than "help" as studies show that people respond to specific calls to action. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Morning all, MARY I'm not particularly worried about the Flu outbreak at this point, I feel like someone standing on a hill looking round and seeing a problem event happening in the far distance. I can keep watching and if it looks like the problem is getting closer to my hilltop I can take preventative measures to avoid it. I would be a very bad neighbour if I kept the sighting to myself and didn't alert my contacts to the fact that it had happened. I would also be a bad neighbour if I saw it coming and did nothing but protect me and mine. That's all the heads up is, I'm just keeping an eye open to changes, not running scared!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Well isn't being a prepper all about that Mrs L? About being aware and looking for signs, looking for potential trouble and looking for ways out. It's knackering being a prepper0

Interesting though isn't it?0

I don't want to get into a political debate about this (so this is going to be my only comment) but I think those that actually want to disrupt the funeral today are beyond the pale and that it's a worrying sign of what this country has become.
That said my main concern is security - violent 'activism' from the usual hangers on or worse, a Boston scenario. The latter applies even more so to the imminent London Marathon. If I was taking part, would I cancel? I'd like to give the usual gung ho response as in 'I wouldn't let fear of terrorism stop me going about my daily life yadda yadda....'. But I believe many who come out with this suffer from 'the odds are nothing is going to happen to me' syndrome.
If we had good intel that there was definitely going to be a major attack, I would probably cancel and I suspect many others would to.0 -
Hi everyone:) Very wet here today, so washing will be going on the clothes horse. Baking later maybe a cake or two. I was in the garden yesterday and noticed new buds on our shrubs and it made me feel so content and looking forward to the warmer weather(hopefully).
Had the bedding on the line yesterday ( we had a sunny but very windy day) and just watching the washing dancing about in the wind was a wee pleasure.:) Simple things like this make me happy.Do a little kindness every day.;)0
