OH came back from the hospital still quite pessimistic.
The talk of BIL opening his eyes and improving conditions seem to have been grossly exagerated. OH thinks MIL and FIL are clinging onto any hope that they can and ignoring all the signs against him ever coming out of hospital.
The eye opening was just flickers as OH called it and the nurse told him it was because they were reducing the sedation he is under. This was so they could adjust the breathing apparatus to see if he is showing any signs of trying to breath himself-he isn't and the machine had to be turned back to full pressure to keep him breathing.
In laws keep talking about kidneys and liver "recovering", but everything the staff say and we can find online simply says once the organs are this far into failure thats just not going to happen.
It just kind of feels like everything is in limbo at the moment and as OH says in some ways he wishes they would just let him slip away as he knows his brother wouldn't want to live to end up disabled and reliant on other people, its just always something he has said he couldn't cope with, at best he is looking at months if not years in hospital, many operations, long term medication and who knows what else. Maybe he will cope, who knows. Just have to keep waiting.

We're on the east coast and I don't think we are in danger tonight. The wind is strong but not too strong but something bizarre just happened to me.
Walking with the dog and suddenly I couldn't breathe for a couple of seconds. It was like there was a pressure infront of my nose stopping me. I turned to look at the dog and he was stood rigid in 'refusal mode' obviously distressed.
I have never had anything like that before. It had to have been the wind but, like I say, it's not too strong here.
I saw the isobars on the BBC this morning so knew it was going to be windy but will go look in detail now, thank you.
So sorry to read that Ali. I'm so sorry that the hope and positivity you've felt may not have been so. It's difficult to write what to say when someone's world really is being turned upside down and I feel for you and your family.x0 -
ALI such a sad and difficult situation for all of you to have to deal with and come to terms with. Parents will always want the best for thier children and maybe hope too much that what they see is improvement in his condition. The only comfort you can take at present is that he is being looked after by a team of caring professionals, he is in a safe place, he is in no pain and his family who love him are there with him and keeping him company. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours and will be while you have need of them, Chin up petal, be strong Love Lyn xxx.0

Fuddle that sounds really scary for both you and the dog. Strangely someone else mentioned the same thing happening to them today. The other people commenting seemed to think it was the pressure from the upcoming storms. Glad to hear you are all staying in if you can.
As I said it will be up and down with the weather this week, although its looking very bad towards the weekend. Because the storms are so deep/wide (yes, more than one) they are difficult to fit to an exact time scale.
I would like to give you all the heads up for a weather event around the 10th/13th of February. It's showing on the weather models in Europe and its a brutal spell of Arctic weather that comes all the way down to Italy and Greece. The UK is in the middle of this map, the numbers on the map are the forecast pressure on the barometer.....the colours are the predicted temperatures......to give you an idea.....the royal blue colour is minus 24 degrees.......and the black is much colder. Even if the temperatures moderate it will still be bone numbingly cold around that time. I am going to prep for it....... http://img.meteogroup.com/meteo/gfs/Europe/2013012800/Europe_2013012800_thgt500_372.png“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. It's turned decidedly nasty here in the north east this last half hour. Off to do the school run and then snuggle up. Tornado's are a possibility here.
There's definitely an ominous feel out. So interesting that other people had reported the same thing 2t. It was bizarre.0 -
I've just walked the houndicus and my goodness it's getting to be wild and wooly out there. It's not pelting down with rain yet but the drops that are falling are enormous and burst on the ground with a big SPLAT! I could feel them bursting on my coat as I walked. The wind is picking up noticably and I have to walk under a row of big old mature oak trees on the way home and they were whipping about and creaking and groaning. I think we might see some big trees down all over the place if the wind really gets strong. Keep yourselves safe folks, I think it's going to get interesting, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Getting very gusty on the south east coast, our car was being pushed around all over the show. Temperature has dropped dramatically in the last hour or so and the wind is bitter. I've had a pressure headache since waking at around 2am and as soon as the temperature dropped the headaches vanished.
My DDs both said they feel something is going to happen, they've been saying it for weeks now and when it snowed one said "something worse is on its way". I must admit I do share their sense of unease, can't quite put my finger on it but I'm very unsettled."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
