That's no way to talk about a neighbour :rotfl:
LOL that made me laugh Pineapple......fortunately most of my neighbours fit into the old goats group...most of them are sheep/goat and olive producers.....
I GOT THE JOB!!!!! It was the same real estate company I turned down months ago for a commission only job as a freelancer. I told her at the time that I could not afford to do that and to get in touch if she ever needed someone good at their job and if she was willing to pay.The job is only for ten hours a week but its a great chance for me. I will be getting a basic wage plus commission and an extra payment for each email/enquiry I reply to. I can work online from home so that is a big bonus. I will be liasing with clients on the luxury end of the market for businesses and villas. I start the job tomorrow so a quick start. I am really pleased as even a little bit of extra cash will be very welcome.
We are yet again on a weather warning, this time force nine warm winds and dangerous thunderstorms. Great joy!
Trying to investigate a very curious message I got from Piers Corban the weather man last night......he circulated it to many of the science/weather/space sites . He has really stuck his neck out this time and forecast a major solar event between 16/18th January that will cause major weather events around the 21st and could affect world weather for the next twenty years!!!!! I will let you know if I learn any more.....scary stuff to say the least “The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
We had mice once.I left a packet of mouse poison in the cupboard under the sink and the little b*****s chewed through the packet and ate the poison.I don't know if it killed them as we found no bodies. In the end we had to buy the old fashioned traps .0

dont think we getting snow over here but its stillbloody freezing dog practically ontop of radiators.................isnt it funny when its cold like this dog seemsto retain water in its legs or head or somewhere needing only to releive itself twice a day but when its warm the bloody thing would need a bladder operation the amount of times it NEEDS and i stress the word NEEDS as in stop everything your doing im more important....and it still drinks the same amount of water....xxx
I have two westie girl doggies. One has a cast iron bladder and could go once or twice in 24 hours and hates cold weather but loves sunning herself and will follow the sun around the house or garden. The other has to go outside once every couple of hours in the day and once in the night otherwise she pees under the kitchen table - she loves cold weather and can often be found lying full length in the snow or on frosted pavements. So I get the best of both worlds!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

 white stuff confirmed , am expecting mega feet by weekend. Dd wants to come here but have already told her no. Met O does not earn its keep!!!! I live in SW
Am going to fetch a couple of cabbages from the allotment tomorrow and transfer anything we may need to the house. Does anyone else remember when snow was up to the first floor? I do. I am not so worried about plants in pots as snow is insulating. Definitely indoor hibernation time is coming v soon. One thing I have thought about concerns the stove vent, which comes from under the floor ie low down outside, oxygen is NEEDED so will have to make sure that the vent is working or alternatively make sure that all over window vents are open
If concerned about where you live and can afford £15 then I highly recommend the jan forecast with the updates and he is also supplying feb included. I CANNOT give any more hints re where but other areas will be affected. It is weatheraction0 -
If only we had a few plant pot heaters right now. We have another shtf here now, our boiler is making strange noises when it kicks in. Rather like a car trying to start but not quite managing. Spoke to our local engineer and he was to come at 5 and advised to turn it off. Then I remembered the emergency cover on the house insurance and decided due to finances to go with them and cancelled local guy who was understanding. Have now recieved a call by company used by John Lewis ins and they can't come till tomorrow pm :eek::eek:. I was asked if anyone had health conditions and told them both of us but it seems to make little difference.
So operation get/stay warm commences !!!!
I have thermals, fleeces galore, extra duvets and will be litting loads of candles. Will put oven on and leave door open if it gets real bad and I am trying to hold back on putting extra layers on at the mo. Our house is open plan and the only heating is a combi boiler, how I wish we lived somewhere we could have a wood burning stove. Well I guess I will have to treat this like an adventure.
Our eldest cat keeps snuggling under the duvet between us at night. She's almost 20 and we hav'nt the heart to stop her. If she feels the need to be close who are we to stop her, she goes through these phases. We don't sleep as well though as we are fearful of squashing her, but she is such a sweet heart and when she moves up to that meadow full of flutterbys in the sky she will be so missed.
Just to add to the drama of the day our other cat came staggering in and caused me a fright earlier but rather than being hit by a car as was my first though he has recovered and I think he just fell off the fence into some conifers. Lots of cuddles and a few treats and he is back to normal.
Oh what a week ! yesterday it was blocked drains and today no heating or hot water. We were due to take car in for repairs and service this pm but have had to rebook for friday. At least we still have electric for now.
Sorry if its a bit of a ramble but needed to share, thanks for understanding.
Brilliant news about the job 2tonsils and love the compass thing sb44.0 -
oh dear SM, I hope everything is sorted very quickly. In the meantime, perhaps plan for living in your smallest room as body heat will suffice0

Kittie I got the 30 day January forecast as a one-off but am I right in thinking you don't get updates with that? I can't actually access the forecast any more - I hadn't realised it was only available for download until 14th. (Lucky I saved a copy) The reason I bought a forecast is DD1 has a really important exam on 23rd and now I still don't know how she's likely to be affected
(Sorry if this is hijacking thread but you don't accept pm)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
SM, excuse me delurking but I had a similar-sounding boiler problem and rang the manufacturers' helpline and it was a simple case of low water pressure and they talked me through getting the pressure up - saved me £70 calloutYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
