I am a control freak, quite a big one to be honest. :D Having things ready for 'what if's' suits my controlling nature.

I get very frustrated when those who I try to prompt to prep ignore me. I have learned, A- to realise they don't have to do as I say, and B- that my inner control freak can't fix the world and everyone in it.
It's a bit of a Bu**er, but there it is. Deep breath, step back, eat a square of chocolate, and reflect on how a career in politics could have furthered my ability for world domination! :rotfl:

Only you guys on here would understand this-OH popped into asda on his way back with the toilet parts, for a few bits and spotted reduced sun cream so bought some for the stores lol. Anyone other than you guys would be scratching their heads at buying sun cream on a day like today, but £1 a bottle can't be turned down :money:.

Just off to bang my bread in the oven and prep the meatballs for tea.

    A bargain lol
Oh my god my eyes are going funny, been on the laptop too long I think. I read that last bit as just off to bang my head in the oven :eek: and thought oh no, not sure wether its my eyes or brain having a malfunction. Perhaps quality checking the choccy stash will correct this. :D

you forgot the Daily Rant and Rail featuring people who live on hilly suburban roads expecting "the council" to have gritted every inch of it, the AA will tell people not to travel unless your journey is essential (we all go to work because we find it so fulfilling and life enhancing, don't we?) and Network Rail stations will be full of people who don't know what's happening and haven't been told anything - and that's just the staff.

Onions were scarce in 1941 because virtually the entire country's onion consumption was grown in the Channel Islands. By 1942 people had started to grow their own. How many allotment holders today don't grow maincrop potatoes or other stuff that's cheap and plentiful? I know you do GQ but lots don't

Well it's snowing. Just a hint of ice and you can't get up the lane, so the neighbours who have to get out to work tomorrow have parked their cars up on the top. Of course when it was me, I used to be out the night before gritting, but now that this grit fairy has retired, reality is going to be hitting home.
I'm just hoping I don't have to go back to the docs because of the after effects of this antibiotic. Likewise I'm hoping the dog doesn't need the vet though she is much better today. Taking the dog out to her accustomed spot in the local wilderness last night, I was fighting off an urgent toilet moment of my own when I noticed what was coming out of the dog's bottom...
Oh to be a dog with no inhibitions! :rotfl:

I'm a bit rubbish in the earth mother stakes as I don't like babies and small children and can never find my apron.:p

Sorry you had the dreaded noro. I'm scared of catching it and have turned a little obsessive about handwashing esp at work and when I come in from outside.

Maryb, I'm good for onions; got a 5KG sack of them yesterday at Liddly for £1.99. At that price it's hardly worth growing them but I can't bet that they'll always be so cheap. F'instance, Mr T had 3 onions for £1 and they were no bigger or better than the ones in the sack. You really do need to shop around.

Apart from a handful fetched down to the flat, I've left the sack of onions in the lottie shed, will split them with Mum when she comes up next time.

I've bought my onion sets already and will be buying seed spuds around Valentine's Day. So much more practicable than chocolates and so slimming.:D

Weellll, expect my team will be fielding the usual calls from the public; would you feel it reasonable to expect your local council to come and grit your garden path for you? We get people every year demanding this service who are most cross (often with added expletives and threatening litigation) when we won't do this for them.

    Baffles me, I admit.

The Lidls big bags of onions are such good value aren't they? I do find that you get quite a few that have that dark soft inner ring in them about halfway through but the rest of the onion is OK. It just means you use a bit more than you thought you would need
