I'v got a battery/wind-up radio GQ, got it about 6 year's ago from one of the petrol station deal's and I must say it has come in handy when there's been power cut's.
Have you got a Maplin electrical shop GQ? They are out of stock at the moment but they have a 4 way powered radio/torch called the Eton solarlink which might be close to what you are looking for, sorry can't do link's I don't know how:o£71.93/ £180.000 -
PS has anyone got a link to a visual for a washing machine drum stove? I just got it as a throwaway comment from a colleague. I guess the principle is just the IKEA cutlery drainer writ large?
The same site has a tandoor made from a washing machine drum and large flower pot that I'm tempted to have a shot at.0 -
Hi all! I didn't think I would find people on here like me, but with all the recent natural disasters, and countries bombing each other its really got me thinking...
Is there anywhere that has an ultimate list of everything to have for a years supply so that you don't die/become ill/can survive?
I've just bought a solar charger case that can charge every single type of phone/GPS etc. Thinking of getting a wind up/solar power torch, and sneakily start getting more supplies in without my mum noticing, because she thinks I'm mad enough as it is without doing all this!
Most of the recent disasters are in climates unlike anything the UK is likely to see, as for us bombing a Country other that one America tells us too well ..... I wouldn't fear the blitz just yet
Not saying you are all gossips or anything but I find this thread hard to keep up withI have said this before, don't bother stock pilling matches get those lighters from pound land 5 for a pound will last you ages, they also have batteries for a pound (I think it's 10 AA and ten AAA) have put some in my keyboard 'mouse' will let you know next week if they have run out

have had a few bits from here, but be warned they can be beaten on price by special deals. My last wind up radio died after begin flung down the side of a house to a water butt (ahem!) please don't ask!)
Regarding £land batteries - blinking useless had 2 different types AA and the square jobbies and they lasted next to no time was mighty naffed off and vowed not to be conned by cheap batteries ever again. :oThese were unusual branded / own branded ones. Of course sometime they have branded ones and these are good value by comparison. Might just have been a raw deal and they were both bought at the same store but in different points in time .....
I am struggling with DH - he is not only not interested in prepping and takes the mick (gently) but also is financially immature and he is driving me round the twist with his "meh it's not so bad, it'll be OK, we can spend blah blah blah" outlook. He has NOT to date managed to pay any extra off his debts at all, and the !!!!!! now wants to raid the house emergency fund for his blinking car insurance - he has 4 months to sort that one out and it's not like the effing date changes every year!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Sorry bit OTT there but when I am trying to build up stocks of food, water, renewable energy torches etc and he is complaining about a 2l bottle of water in the car that came adrift and thumped into the back of the seat when he braked I fight the red mist of (to me) righteous indignation .....
I did however forget that there were already plastic cups and plates in the house and bought more, then went to stash these in the safe place I had earmarked for these only to discover the original stash there:rotfl::p oops!Start info Dec11

I don't waste time or money on battery-powered anything, it just means you dpened on them and have to keep buying them. I focus more on learning to do things withough needing "stuff".0

Watch out for wind up/solar torches in Lidl on the offers, I got one a few weeks ago and its fantastic..it only cost 7 euros so about a fiver I expect in the UK. It charges up great on the window sill .“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come.
