Imagine a Facebook Pie  Anyone care to come up with a recipe ?
Well after the marathon cookin my thoughts were going back yet again to Polytunnels and Dehydrators . Every time I stock the freezer I think power cuts and other problems . The freezer is my main concern as it is a very large chest in the garage . Over the years we've all discussed all the things available in power cuts and many of us own the wind up gadgets , heating and cooking alternatives . To feed my massive freezer takes a lot of effort and though cooked from scratch a fair amount of cash .
Some weeks ago I was asking about P&Ds and then real life got in my way . I know there is a lot of information here somewhere but if owners take pity on my dying laptop and my poor brain which is worn down fighting to keep on line for longer than about ten minutes I would be very grateful .
Current plans are to extend the growing season as much as possible and build up a store of dried fruit and veg etc to back up the freezer .
Polly
Back later ( fingers crossed ) I need food .It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
I'm MIA as busy this last few days, back to normal tomorrow.
I don't waste time on arguing or taking offence - which is just as well, since as a lone Scot Nat in here I sometimes get given it lol. But I am who I am and proud of it, and the world can just make room for me!
MrsL you're a good wee soul and we need you.
GQ I found a FB pie at the back of my cupboard and clutched it to my bosom and almost CRIED! - been on the damn low carbing so long I'm fading away.
Any more news on price rises due to Brexit?0 -
'm still here MAR, sometimes like a bad smell and sometimes like a cobweb in the corner but still here and pleased to be so!0

I have never been to a car boot. Well thats it, I am going but oh please give me the strength to avoid clutter
Mar, I come off the low-carb wagon occasionally. Eat your FB pie, one every now and again won't do you any harm. I figured as I dropped 0.4 kg between one day and another, I had room for some pastry, lol.

PINEAPPLE you can't be uncheered and cantankerous, you make me smile!
GQ you're a hoot and I still think you're jealous 'cos I got the Jaffa cake slug to slice up! Chocolate orange is such a lovely colour combination, but as we both know.....they're all pink and wiggly inside don't we?
I hope no damage was caused to keyboards in the reading of this message!!!0 -
Ack, what a visual. It's always stuck me as disturbing that slugs seem to have a full suite of intestines like you'd expect from a mammal. Icky critters.
I am now in the process of following my own example and straightening up the kitchen by washing up everything which needs washing up. Definately going to have a fresh start for tomorrow.
Righty, heading towards the teakettle, gotta keep on top of the priorities, hey?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

If ya do, I'll teach you the Cat S**t Shuffle (imagine a slow-mo Charleston, glancing down at the soles of each alternate foot as you lift it).

prepping for me involves preserving food that I grow on the allotment but one stands head and shoulders above all others and that is hm sauerkraut ie not pasteurised. I just had a small dish of it and it is yummy but better than that is the intake of probiotics. I haven`t eaten any of my stash for quite a few months but am back into it with proof that the probiotics are working and multiplying. Lol I hope they will have settled by tomorrow, ok I`ll say the word `flatulence` I almost died when I was asked to go for a cuppa next door and then spent 20 minutes squeezing everything in tight and hoping that I could stand up gracefully from a very deep chair omg I don`t know how I got through without disgracing myself. Anyway that food is one of the ultimates in being beneficial to health and the dense cabbages are so easy to grow, especially in an uncertain, wet and cool climate. All it needs is some salt and an apple to get it going
