I once bought a packet of yoghurt-covered peanuts and there was a warning label on the back saying May Contain Nuts.
I've also seen stickers on hot air paint-stripping guns Not to Be Used as a Hairdryer.
I'm also amused when pizzas sealed in plastic sleeves on polystrene discs have to have instructions like Remove all packaging before placing in the oven.
Frankly, if you have to have that spelled out to you, you aren't fit to be allowed to buy your own food or be in any kitchen without an adult chaperone.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I just keep seeing a vision of Putin lying on the floor waving his legs around in hysterics. It's more like a Whitehall Farce than politics!0

There are some real crackers GQ.
Printed on the bottom of Tesco Tiramisu dessert: Do not turn upside down.
On a child's Superman costume: Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.
On a microwave oven manual: Do not use for drying pets.
On a bottle of baby lotion: Keep away from children.
On a birthday card for a one year old: Not suitable for children aged under 36 months or less.
On a TV remote: Not Dishwasher safe.
On a toaster: Do not use underwater.
On a mattress: Do not attempt to swallow.:rotfl:0 -

Thank goodness the politicians are just there to distract the attention from the senior civil serpents who actually run things.
A Hungarian acquaintance was really getting my goat on Saturday afternoon by declaring that we were turkeys who'd voted for Christmas. In fairness, he had been drinking, but now I know that only a third of his countrymen voted in favour of joining the EU (and under half bothered to vote at all) I have some way of ragging him back again.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

The only politician who'd get my vote currently is Hilary Benn who is the only adult behaving like one of all of them.
There is an article on the news feed that is saying Michael Heseltine is calling for another referendum as there are more than 350 MPs in the house of commons who are against Brexit. Forgive me for being naïve but I thought they were elected to serve the people who live in their constituencies? I had no idea they could decide the nation was wrong because they don't like the result and then decide to change things without consultation. I may have said we live in a democracy, I MAY BE WRONG!!!0 -
The point of a referendum is that each eligible voter's opinion carries the same weight. Which means that the opinions of 350 MPs are of no more or less importance than those of any 350 other people who are not MPs.
Gosh, but this democracy business is hard work when you're trying to din it into the thick skulls of the plutocrats.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Lyn When you mentioned the orchards that had been grubbed up, it reminded me that here in Kent we have Brogdale, where the old varieties of apples, and other old varieties of fruit, are kept going
Perhaps one day we'll have them on sale here again!
I'm not that far from Brogdale, and used to live in Teynham, home of the first cherry orchard.Carolbee0 -
I live around 10 miles from Brogdale and its great to visit when I go to see my sis-in-law who lives in Faversham. There is also a fabulous farm shop called Macknades just outside Faversham, and I'm afraid when I visit there I do tend to go a bit mad on the stuff they sell, as its so nice The veg is really good and local and their deli counter and cheese are to die for I stock up if I visit and they do some really inexpensive herbs and spices which come in cellophane bags and not silly fancy jars.I am so lucky to live in Kent and a half hour away is Whitstable and their amazing fresh fish market.

It seems that the news of the day is that our democratically-elected representatives are conspiring with foriegn nationals to overthrow the will of the people of the UK. Didn't this used to be called treason?
Apart from the overweening arrogance of it, in which world do they imagine that this will end well? At least 8 other EU member states have pressure for their own referenda. If our lot overturn ours, will they just subside peacefully or will there have to be riots across the continent?
If the eurocrats show a modicum of sense, a much reformed and much smaller EU may survive. If they act autocratically, they will be seen as autocrats, and it will end badly. Probably in the complete implosion of the EU and a lot of civil unrest in many countries.
I'm very disappointed by the level of stupidity.:(Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
