I think I've had a post removed, reporting some bad news for us that's a direct result of today's news. Apologies if I offended anyone; probably best if I stay out of here for a while now.Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

I have, hence sayingAnd why diesels are fitted with priming pumps - though these tend to be of the squeeze bulb type which age harden and are generally fairly useless by 6 or 7 years old. Its is generally possible to replace the squeeze bulb with an actual mechanical hand pump - a worthwhile prep if you do run out of fuel - but I agree, this is something that's best avoided if at all possible.
And in particularbut I agree, this is something that's best avoided if at all possible.
The reason I know that the squeeze bulb type pumps age harden was due to those circumstances, when the storm was preventing my mobile getting a signal and I urgent business 50 miles away - its also when I discovered that the fuel sensor on that vehicle was overly optimistic.0 -
Sounds grim, nuatha.
I used to drive a delivery van with a broken fuel gauge. You filled up, set the trip counter to zero and went into the filling station when it hit 250.
A gauge you know doesn't work is manageable. One you think is functional but isn't accurate is potentially a lot of trouble.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I had a post removed too Thriftwizard, which is one of the reasons that I thought I'd leave it for a while before I posted again.
I'm not celebrating the result, it will hurt and upset too many people, as it would had done, equally, if it had gone the other way. I'm just putting it behind me now, and moving on.
Mardatha - in that spirit (moving on) I'd like to join your ' week on British produce' challenge please, if that's ok with everyone.0 -
Personally, I agree with Nigel Farage, that the EU is dying.
Already, several other countries are facing calls for their own referenda.
IMO, the EU is like a badly injured animal, and needs to be put down, rather than left to suffer.0 -
Feel free to give me ideas on the UK food-only weeks menu --- my repertoire is (extremely) limited.
GQ I read your link and it's not jellybabies I love, its Bighearts. lol0 -
Ok let's try a challenge.. A week's menus living only off stuff that can be grown or obtained in the UK. Pretend it's wartime lol and nothing gets in from Europe. Could you do it?
Well, you didn't remove Britain from the rest of the world, just from the EU. And probably a lot of what you get comes from my neck of the woods. So don't worry about the bananas, pineapples or avos just yet, nor the tea and coffee, Australasia and Asia aren't about to stop trading with you any time soon.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

But what about Mrs Merkel's U-boats she'll be launching to torpedo allied shipping?0
