Hell, Mar, never mind culture, some of us couldn't do the shorts and teeny-tops thing anyway due to complexion. I managed to acquire a stripe of sunburn across my lower back yesterday by gardening outside in not particularly sunny weather - my top came adrift from my trousers.
I shudder to think the amount of damage I could do in shorts. Never mind the personal risk of sunburn, the sun's rays reflecting off my lily-white limbs could distract low-flying aircraft.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Aye, I look like FuManchu's granny in white or yellow!0

Glad that's settled as to what sort of time to expect the Election results in.
I shan't stay up overnight to watch - as combination of tiredness and "if the results go the wrong way" would not be at all good for my mood....
So - I can catch up on the news breakfast time Friday then. I might just sneak out of bed extra early if I'm feeling hopeful.

Mind you mar, yellow is a particularly difficult colour to wear, IYSWIM....I look dreadful in it, but DH and DS look great, it's not fair!0

I shall be in the middle of a (currently) muddy field, and glad of it.
I am truly terrified of the consequences of Brexit - i think that Jo Cox's won't be the only blood shed
Having said that, as a remain voter, i am also terrified of the consequences of that...
Damn David Cameron for doing this to our country in order to win his election last year and damn all the others who couldn't give a flying f**k about Brexit or not but are so ambitious that they can't see what they are doing.
This is my opinion - I know many here are "out" voters - but i agree with whoever said "the only number Boris is interested in is Number 10"..
I love this country - but at the moment I am afraid of it.....I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Do I recall that some years ago Mothercare brought out a range of kids clothes in bright yellow and had to withdraw the stock because the kids were being bombarded by bees - who love the colour yellow! Nope. All insects are attracted to the colour yellow, so that's a good enough reason not to wear it in summer. The best colour to wear to be unattractive to mozzies is a dark blue, apparently. Don't know if anything repels the infamous Scottish midge, tho. Possibly a flame-thrower would do the trick, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Most of my flat is painted yellow but I don't tend to wear it too much as strong colours tend to wear me, rather than the other way around. I like to co-ordinate my clothing and my eye colour (khaki green with dark red accents).:pEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Years ago my children had bright "sunshine" yellow t shirts they wore them on holiday the year Norfolk was invaded by ladybirds. The ladybirds made a beeline for the children and anyone else wearing yellow was soon covered. The Ts were quickly swapped for a different colour. Also we had a tent with yellow panels that was regularly chosen as a landing site for small beatles. I learned after those events yellow was not a summer colour.SPC~12 ot 124

Not that long ago, a bright yellow mini parked in our town centre was invaded by an entire swarm of bees. She'd left her window slightly open, it was a warmish day... it took the combined resources of the local beekeepers and the fire brigade to sort it out, and the town centre was cordoned off for hours.Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0
