:) Don't let blight-anxiety spoil your time away, maryb. It might never happen and then you've fretted for nothing.

My tater tops are looking lush & lovely, with the first sown batch (sown 23rd March) in flower and very pretty. I shall keep an eye on them and hope that they have time to finish growing and that the tops can die back naturally before any blight comes.

If it happens, no one is repsonsible, it's just blowin' on the wind.......

  • Only raining lightly here, and the heat and closeness is back. :(

Currently 60 degrees outside, and (courtesy of 12" of loft insulation) 73.5 degrees indoors.
  • Home Bargains are selling 0.5L Kilner jars for 59p each, and 1.5L spring lock jars for £1-99 each.
  • Re those "kilner" jars - warning note to sound. I've bought cheapie look-alikes and = never again. Summat goes wrong with the wire bit of the shutting mechanism in my experience before forever and thats another jar in the dustbin.

Hence I've learnt to only buy the "real deal".

Thinking of when the poo hits the fan reminded me of something that happened to me a few days ago, which I thought I would share with you all. I have been growing the lovely sweet pea plants in the back garden for some time now, and was delighted when they started to flower. I went out with a little pair of scissors to cut some for my newly washed out jam jar :) in keeping with saving money:) and wearing new toe post sandals They are a lovely navy colour, by the way and comfy. Well I cut some of the sweet peas and stood back to look at some more, when I was splat on by a feathered" friend" from on high and it landed on my bare toes!!! The indignity of it. I was affronted and all my dh could do was laugh and say "ach love sure it will wash off ha ha" My dd thought it hilarious too as I am often talking about the wee birds in the back garden and how cute they are........ There are a lot of trees in our little cul de sac as it was once all fields and the homes were built around the trees etc. about 21 years ago. It is peaceful though and I have forgiven the bird :) as I love to hear them all in the evenings too:) My husband thought them cute until one of them splatted on his Ulster rugby top while on the line one day after the match :) He wasn't laughing that day:)
Do a little kindness every day.;)
  • It's supposed to be LUCKY when a birdie does that MARGARET!!!

These have the word Kilner moulded into them.

Does that not mean they're the "real deal"?

:) I've got jars of that type, except mine are the Le Parfait brand. The 0.5 litre is a very useful size in a singleton household and that's a very good price for them, thanks to BB for signposting them.

  • We've got a gentle drizzle here, with an outside temperature of a pleasant 55 degrees.

Trouble is, the inside temperature is still 75 degrees. :(

:) It must be cooler than that in my parents' house as The Queen of Sheba has decided it's chilly enough to sit on a human. She treats people like sentinent heat-pads. Her sister Wild Thing is out - doing Cat Things, apparently.
