I read a funny letter in the Mail the other day. Someone suggested that people voting in must have 'Stockholm Syndrome'. :)

:p It's almost as funny as this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3638953/Project-Panic-Eurocrat-warns-Britain-leaving-EU-trigger-end-Western-civilisation.html

Wasn't it Gandhi who, when asked what he thought of Western civilisation, said that he thought it would be a good idea?:rotfl:

The thing to remember is that if you vote Remain, the following is sure to happen:

    1. The sky will fall in.
    2. Your hair will fall out.
    3. No one will sell us anything or buy anything from us and we'll die like dogs on our lonely grey island in the North Sea.

All of the above will also apply if you vote Brexit, too.;)

I was chuckling with some pals about what might happen if we Left. As in, we might end up as destitute and miserable as Norway or Switzerland, the poor benighted countries that they are.

Pass me a pickled herring and a bar of T0bler0ne, I could live with that.

  • What really weighed in with me this morning was the Euro Bureaucrat who was being interviewed saying that there wasn't a plan 'B' for if the UK voted Brexit because we wouldn't be that stupid. We apparently couldn't possibly cope without Europe to show us how!!!

:) Perhaps they should remember that this country was sometimes formerly known as Perfidious Albion for the way we played other countries in Europe off against each other.

We have a deficit of gunboats, so gunboat diplomacy won't be on the cards nowadays but there's plenty of low cunning still available in this Septic Isle.

I reckon the truth is that the Eurocrats can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And that it's a rapidly derailing gravy train about to throw them off and out into the Real World where they might be able to do hard work for a pittance rather than swan around on expense accounts off tax payers' hard-earned dosh.

Vote Brexit and impoverish a politician today, what's not to like?! :D

Doesn't she mainly post on the Garden Fence thread these days? Hope all is well with her and her family, I've always had a lot of liking and affection for the woman, she's good people.

  • As far as I know FUDDLE is fine, she's settled well after the move last year and is much occupied at the moment with a team setting up a new charity shop for their local Hospice and when that is open she will be volunteering for a couple of days a week. Lovely way for her to get out and meet people and get to know folks in the local community. I will contact her and make sure though and let you know how she is if she's too busy to post due to other commitments.

Makes me quite glad we haven't got any :D

Just seen your post maryb. So sorry you're not having better weather for your holiday!
I remember one year we stayed in a mobile home on a site in Brittany. There was a big pond in the centre of the site, very picturesque but I've never been bitten so much in my life!

Thanks Ivyleaf. Weather was actually ok today so fingers crossed the good weather will come through a bit quicker. We are actually quite close to a lake here hence the mozzies. But I have a recipe for an insect repellent using essential oils which works for me - and I am one of those people who comes out in tennis ball size lumps when bitten
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • OK I've been in touch with another poster who I know has spoken to FUDDLE who is very happy and busy and enjoying her charity work, her lovely little family and her garden to the full. She's well and happy and busy as a bee so all is OK!!! Good isn't it?

TESSASMUM you my petal are just why this thread is so useful, your feedback is the inspiration WE all need to keep on doing the things we do. If it's helped and helping you lovey then it validates its existence in the first place. I'm so sorry that you've lost your dear OH and now have to forge a different path in life for you and your family but your approach to what others would have seen as an insurmountable problem is refreshing beyond belief and the fact that you had made preparations for just this eventuality will see you through whatever you need to do to come out of the tunnel triumphant. Please stay in this little family and let us help you through any glitches that happen, keep us in the loop so we can rejoice at your successes and keep us prepping by being the inspiration we need to keep the vision alive, Good Luck, Lyn xxx.

I am quoting Lyn's comments on my OH's death nearly two years ago and I have finally got round to giving you the update - I've been reading and not saying much lately! There just hasn't been the hours in the day to read as much as I used to even, but things are going well, and I wanted to echo the thanks I offered back then. We live very similarly to how we did back then, and we are doing better than coping - we're all thriving. DD19 has just finished her second year at uni, and DD16 has just done AS level exams, and they are both starting to learn to drive this summer. I got a job in the autumn after DH died and it was a stop-gap but now I am in 30 hour/week job for the church which I absolutely love - and it is paying the bills. We haven't moved, but we have had to make some changes - our lovely chooks went to new homes in April 15 and I now have a lot more grass to mow, but it saves a bit of time. Old-style living continues to be our way of life, and my job involves some work with people who need to live on less money, so your wisdom often gets shared widely! :)
