Hubby and I had a good talk about it last night. I think he may be right in saying that no mp, politican no matter how much we admire , like them will never really care because most of them have off shore accounts and or can afford to buffer any money issues because they have a lot more earnings/capital than most of joe public. So do they really care or is it all more point scoring who is right or wrong. I do wonder sometimes!.
Anyway ..Thanks for the welcome. Trying to think of ways of using up 3 over ripe bananas when I have no sugar ..sugarless banana bread. I have a tin of black treacle . Oh and ginger..banana gingerbread cakey thing? Is it wrong to think of cake this time in the morning?
We have a friend coming round for a film, Also must book free library crafts for the kiddies as it's half term apparently.

Put your over ripe bananas in the freezer and when they are frozen hard pop them into the blender and blitz them until they're creamy and you have sugar free BANANA ICE CREAM.....If it's not too early to talk about cake, it's not too early to contemplate an ice cream either is it?...ducks and runs!0

Morning all, hope everyone is well.
Watched the sky debate with DC last night, I've laughed less at comedy programmes I think the only thing MPs are worried about is if we leave they won't all automatically get jobs on the euro gravy train when they leave our political arena. They aren't worried about us as people or even the country as a whole. As others have pointed out most politicians already have their eggs safely stashed in overseas baskets.
Trying to be a bit more self sufficient this year so have already installed a water butt onto the house guttering- it filled within two days of getting put in. I've got lots of salad and veggies growing which are doing well.
Need to check cupboards I'm currently running them down a bit to try and sort out what we actually use and what just sits there.SPC~12 ot 124

I don't have a muffin top, I have a whole cake aisle. It looks like I've slept with Mr Kipling. It was exceeding good though . ~Sarah Millican

Mrsmoneypenny must get my Butt sorted out, been saying that for 15 years! I want to filter it so I can use it occasionally to rinse out the grubby stuff in the washing machine.

On a slightly different topic ... thinking of the nannying by businesses and organisations in general. My road is being used for a street party in 8 days time, and the local housing association was going door to door advising people not to park their cars in the road. At first I thought it was to help people, but I realised later it was about wanting the road car-free. And they wanted me to sign a printout that they were keeping, saying that they'd advised me to move my car.
I took it to read it, but I didn't sign it. As an instance of ar se covering, it seemed really excessive, and I'm not prepared to sign a piece of paper to prove (to who? their boss?) that somebody knocked at my door. Weird.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
After the skulduggery that went on with postal votes in the independence referendum, I think whatever the Westminster establishment wants then that will be the result we get, whether we vote for it or not.
My feelings exactly. My opinion is that we will 'Remain' by fair means or foul. But hope to be proved wrong when I will wear sackcloth and walk on hot (maybe warmish) coals"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety". - Benjamin Franklin0 -
I don't post very often but some of the things I have read/heard about the outcome of the referendum remind me of the Chicken Licken story. Both sides seem to think the sky will fall on June 25th if the "opposing" side win and are frantically rushing round the country telling everyone but without any suggestions as to what we could do on the off-chance it DOES fall. My view, for what it's worth (which may be no more than a tube of Smarties) is that things may get a bit better or worse for some people in the short term, but any real effects won't be seen for many years (and probably only in retrospect). Whatever happens most people will adapt their lives and get on with their daily routines (possibly having a good old British grumble now and then). Although I have my own voting preference I don't believe either choice to be absolutely better or worse for Britain - just different. As Monnagran posted - NOBODY KNOWS.
Right, I'm off to make sure turkey-lurkey, foxy-loxy and goosey-loosey aren't fighting then it's time for more (non-EU) tea.0 -
Que sera, sera, whatever will be will be.
I love the chicken licken simile But at least if the sky falls we'll be prepared to deal with it. So many skills here to share
I'm going to be in York for a long weekend. First trip away from home since the little heart incident last year. My sons moving in with his two staffies to dog sit though. They're lovely dogs, soft as butter and wouldn't hurt a fly, it's my mad, bad Border terrier would-be thieves should be terrified of:rotfl:
When I return I'm going to audit our stores and start to build them up again. Not so much because of the referendum (though partly) but because it NEVER hurts to be well stocked and we're eating a lot more pulses and grains than we used to. I haven't touched the tinned meats for nearly a year, processed meats aren't a good choice for me healthwise, they'll end up in someone else's kitchen I suspect, but I'm going to replace them with tinned fish. I eat fish (fresh usually) three times a week these days but have a low boredom threshold and really need to find some new store cupboard recipes.0
