I'm certain I remember reading about someone who was certified brain dead and to everyone's astonishment they woke up after all and had been aware of things that had happened during the time they were thought to be brain dead (People's conversations, comings and goings.). I think it was a couple of years ago.
Perhaps that is why this is being done.
Approximately eight years ago, my SIL was called to California because her mother had had a massive stroke. She was on a ventilator etc for over a week and tested no brain activity. The doctor conferred with SIL and her siblings where it was decided to stop all medical intervention. The priest was called, gave last rites and waited beside her bed with the family. The doctor pulled the ventilator and she opened her eyes and said thank you! She then wanted to know who won the baseball game. (???? No clue where this idea came from>but probably TV going in ICU) Talk about shock and awe! She lived about 5 more years and passed peacefully in her sleep.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Did you guys know, there's an App available, for smartphones and tablets, that tells you when the ISS will be passing over your location, its route, altitude and angle of elevation (both start and maximum), how long it'll be in view, magnitude, etc.?0

Or you can email notifications direct from NASA, usually turn up 12+ hours before hand.
Three opportunities to see it here tonight, this one looks particularly good:
Time: Mon May 30 1:41 AM, Visible: 6 min, Max Height: 82°, Appears: 10° above WNW, Disappears: 11° above ESE0 -
This article was emailed to me today:

BTW, you can still use a cellphone fairly safely if you buy a stethoscope headset. Site here: http://smart-safe.com/products/0 -
We've got one tonight (North West England, a few miles North of Manchester), at 22:29:09 hrs.
Magnitude 3.0
Duration: 5m 49s
Start elevation: 10 degrees.
Maximum elevation: 30 degrees.
We've also got 4 iridium flares.
Tomorrow is better, with 3 ISS passes (brightest 3.9), and an iridium flare.0 -

Thanks for the information BB . You are a lot nearer me than I thought I'm afraid the T Shirt isn't my colour and how do we know there isn't a planet out there somewhere with chocolate . We need to keep Mar happy if we have to abandon earth in a hurry - just imagine the moans if she thinks of a universe without chocolate .
I have been trying to catch up on too many posts yet again and I thank everyone for such a variety of subjects and feedback , there is always thoughtful and informative discussion going on here .
Amongst the last two weeks posts I have skimmed there was discussion on poisons - for the use of and also people offering skills and goods in exchange for a place on Nuathas bale out team .
Ladies and gentlemen as you will not be needing a tent pole as we traverse the universe may I offer a lot of Aconite and Digitalis which grows in my back garden in abundance and could be very handy in certain circumstances .
pollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -

Who says we won't need a tent pole?
Given we don't have a design for a ship... I'm sure solar sails need masts
ETA: GQ - Saw this and thought of you: https://search.informit.com.au/documentSummary;dn=817618908759886;res=IELHEAThis article reviews the published literature to establish the evidence for and against the Palaeolithic diet.
I can access through the library at work - not sure if you could request a copy of the journal via your local library? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
