MARY DD1 uses kale and spinach in her morning smoothies, lots of fruit and some wheat grass powder and some Macca(is that the right spelling) some skimmed milk and sometimes some yoghurt and she raves about them, says they keep her feeling full until lunch! who'd have thought about putting kale in a smoothie, apparently it just makes the smoothie smooth!0

I want filthy fun.
You need to head over to the tough thread and see whether Hester's aboutMrsLurcherwalker wrote: »MARY DD1 uses kale and spinach in her morning smoothies, lots of fruit and some wheat grass powder and some Macca(is that the right spelling) some skimmed milk and sometimes some yoghurt and she raves about them, says they keep her feeling full until lunch! who'd have thought about putting kale in a smoothie, apparently it just makes the smoothie smooth!
Kale in a smoothie needs a. a machine designed for vegetable smoothies as it is VERY fibrous. b. plenty of fruit or it just tastes like undercooked kale soup. I had a fruit-free kale smoothie in January while I was away from home for work and it was vile.0 -
Now Now, puhleese!!
Puzzled by the troll situation - must have been quite vicious as one can usually work out what has been happening by the posts responding to the deleted post. Can't do that this time. Good to know that MSE Towers are not letting them get past them.
The rubbished another post containing a recipe for a rehydration drink.
This time the response posts were largely removed, as well.
Shame as there were some useful responses. One of the most important things seems to be ensuring an adequate supply of Vitamin K, magnesium and boron. Calcium on its own is not enough ( and should ideally be calcium citrate not calcium carbonate aka powdered chalk from what I can see).. Vitamin D3 also matters but I get enough of that.
So any suggestions welcome for including lots of leafy green veg in my diet please. Kale is one of the best but it's mainly a winter veg. What can I do at this time of year other than eating lots of lettuce? And a particular plea to the gardeners - what should I be sowing now on the allotment to give me a good source of leafy green veg in the next few months?
There quite a range, all things that are to be avoided by warfarin users.
Magnesium, bananas, dried apricots, avocados, cashew nuts.
Looks like your going to be eating a trendy diet (unless the trends have changed again when I blinked)0 -
Tuscan black kale can be grown as a quick crop, similar to cut and come again lettuce ...but pick the leaves and eaten most of the year. Protect with very fine mesh from flea beetle at first, then from whitefly and pigeons.
Now back to lurk.....0 -
The number of pages in this thread will soon catch up with the year we're living in. :cool:0

Lets think, I mentioned
"broccoli, mustard and cress (the sort you grow on damp tissue and eat the sprouts) mustard greens. chard, spinach" and never once mentioned Kale
Well until you brought the subject up that is. So my mention of Kale is purely in self defence.
TiredTrophy mentions Tuscon Black Kale, so that's not the green stuff, you generally object to.
I'll admit I'm not a huge fan of kale, though it works for me in bubble and squeak.
I'd offer you a jelly baby, but this wee Scots Gran on the borders seems to have caused a shortage in this part of the world.0
