No worries Polly - I'm no good at controlling my impulses when annoyed.

The one I went for (LOGIK L814WM16):
    • is A+++ rated
    • has good reviews online (https://www.reevoo.com/p/logik-l612wm13)
    • will be delivered/installed on a Sunday for no extra charge (traveling home late Friday or early Sat and will need to tidy)
    • the engineer will open the door of my existing one (if I've not hacked it open by then)
    • they'll take away the old one
    • cost £214 (-2.5% cashback) all in

To be honest, I'm likely going to buy my own house in a couple of years I'm not too fussed about buying a bullet proof model now if I'm likely going to leave it when I move anyway.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

House Bought July 2020 - 19 years 0 months remaining on term
Next Step: Bathroom renovation booked for January 2021
Goal: Keep the bigger picture in mind...

Is the machine the property of the landlord ?
Yes - but that doesn't matter really - I just have to leave a machine when I move out.

Technically not even that given depreciation on a 30 yr old machine means it's technically 'worthless'

He would get it repaired (again) and I just want something efficient and reliable.

Is the handle completely missing now or partially ?
Cough. Give me 5 minutes and the handle will be the least of it's worries...

I now realise it is intergrated , does it have a bottom plinth to match the units which could give access to drain the water ?

It's actually just slotted into a gap in the cabinets - nothing as fancy as integrated.

The facing cabinets are about 45cm away and it's about 50cm's deep is the issue.

ETA - there's no water in it to worry about.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

:D Buffer the glass with something like a newspaper to prevent shards flying and wallop it with a lump hammer? Oh, damn, that'd risk glass in the undercrackers, need to rethink that.

Glad to hear . I have a number of friends with that machine or the same brand . Never heard any adverse reports . Enjoy it when it arrives and good luck with hopefully buying a home in the future . There are downsides . I am dreading the renovation work to come but at least I don't have to put up with hapless idiots :D
Hope you get out and clear your poor head a bit - sorry for the spelling in my posts I only noticed it now - How could I forget the P in polly ?

Given I seem obsessed with the fact I have very few pairs of clean/decent undies, I think I'll be going out to buy more!

Either that or I wander over to work and ask the lovely weekend security blokes if I can have the 4 clean pairs from my emergency stash bag :rotfl:

I feel an anti social period coming on...

I'm a huge fan of the stuff, so am very antisocial at this time of year - actually I'm generally not that social at any time of year :).

NewShadow If you've got access to a bolster chisel, and a lump hammer (any type of hammer would work, if need be) then put the chisel at the top of the opposite side from the door catch. (10 or 2 o clock position) with the chisel blade parallel to the floor and tap it fairly gently until it starts to seat behind the door. Keep the chisel as parallel to the floor as possible, then whack it (technical term) you are aiming to break the hinge, or to get enough space to insert a breakers bar (crowbar) or similar into the gap to give you sufficient leverage to break the hinge.

(Its possible to break the hinge from the side, but tends to be harder work, given the age of the machine its likely to be half decent metal rather than modern plastics.)

You know if you do that, you won't have got round to replacing them before you need your emergency bag in earnest.

Perhaps in future you only wash half of your undies per load :)

Oh rats NewShadow. I'm sorry my tip didn't work :( Mydaughter has a logik and swears by it - which beats swearing at it I guess

A Ladies Brute Force Manual is an essential tool for the Prepper, and should be on every ladies bookshelf. Failing that a lump hammer and bolster chisel sound a good alternative :)
